naturally-aspirated redblock launches and accelerations

Let's post videos of naturally-aspirated redblock-powered cars launching and/or accelerating. I need reassurance that my car isn't always going to be slow. Here's a video of me having some fun on private property :o)

Not as much fake cancer as Turbo Joe.

My N/As are both 10 second cars
10 seconds flat
to 60mph
from a 20 roll

Nagrom 08-12-2022 01:55 AM

My 88 after throwing the IPD catalog at it. VX cam, high flow exhaust, timing advanced a bit. Not fast but fast enough.

Looks like you have a fun suspension on the car. Mine is too slow to do launches or film anything about it.

When the rally car had the 16v NA engine, somewhere I have the in-car of this run:

^^ There is your proof that rwd was the most fun rallying.

I love it. 250 lb/in front, 150 lb/in rear. 23mm front bar, 19mm rear bar. Big meaty 225/60R15 bfgoodrich radial t/a. The car eats bumps, it lurches around, and it grips like nothing else I've ever owned. The rear is very lively, but it never feels like it wants to kill me either. I've taken it on gravel a few times and slid around and it just takes it

I would love to see that footage if you find it! That looked like a lot of fun. Did they run the downhill too?

Just the uphill. It’s crazy steep and there is zero runoff, and running it DH would be very very sketchy.
They hold DH skateboarding events on it, and hit speeds of 55-60mph just from gravity.

That would be referred to as a Death Run vs. Hill Climb.

This year's Maryhill Hill Climb is coming up soon. 9/17/22. WMC hosting. An no, I don't run Hill Climbs. Not until I have a sacrificial car with all the safety equipment in it including a full cage.

Holy moly. That'd be fun on my road bike haha. I'd need to buy full motorcycle gear though.

dl242gt 08-18-2022 05:03 PM

I went those speeds downhill on my road bike in VT and NH when myself and some friends went there on a biking vacation. Very exciting zooming down hill like that. It really proved the worth of good equipment. Those Campy super record brakes were easily up to the task.
