T5 in a 240

Im using Gaz shocks in my 240 but not coilover units. Im just running their adjustable dampening shock absorbers in the original struts. Really good cheap way of better handling but I would like the coilover units eventually.

Glad to hear that you like them. I couldent find a great deal of information on them from the volvo owners. Alot of other communities seem to like them though so i thought it would be worth a shot. I just hope they perform.

Antz, did you polybushed your front lower arms as apposed to using OEM bushes?

Gaz stuff is really good. They have an amazing name in the old Ford world which is why both me and my dad run them on our Ford Escort mk1 & mk2s.

Im running Superflex bushes throughout the whole car. Not a single OEM bush on mine. I will probably upgrade to rose jointed DVS arb links in the future when I get coilovers though.

At last... the winter is over.

Sorted the terrible rear floor pan. No points for pretty welds, but its strong. A previous owner had bodged It to pass its MOT, the mount for the seat base had no support and was able to move pretty freely, and the holes were not ideal.

Why thank you. She should hopefully be a fair bit lower in weeks to come. Anyway...

Much better.

Off to college again for another two weeks, so yeah. Time to spend some more cash on parts.

Back from college! My last two weeks have been spent in a hotel room itching to get back on this car. The springs, adjusters & dampers have arrived, Oh and some of kaplhenke racing's quick steer roll correction adaptors which look excellent! Happy days.

Work has finally invested in a new oxy acetylene torch which means I could crack on with the bushes.

I need to invest in a nice MIG. Getting sick of using the gasless SIP garbage. But it kinda works so it'll have to do for now.

Anyway, grumble over. More shiny bits arrived! A pair camber plates from Pete at retro turbo. Thanks to Pete for the great service as

I purchased some dimple dies. These will be coming in handy throughout the project. Tool porn :)

I'v been going pretty mad on the TIG recently (fed up with the MIG) picking up jobs were I can and helping mates out just to get the practice on on different materials.

I decided to box the lower arms to stiffen them up. I will be doing the trailing arms as well when I get some time.

Cleaning rust off every item coming off the car became a chore and I really couldn't be bothered with it anymore. I got talking with a mate and he mentioned an electrolysis bath. 6 hours later.... Hey presto.

20150525_160232_6_bestshot_zpsc1zqfeii.jpg

The turbo had done a great job of going rusty again so that was the first item in.

Good results, I may have to build a bigger permanent unit.

Thanks everyone.

More boring stuff. I'm going to strengthen the trailing arms the same as I have with the lower arms. I cant get them finished or welded into place today because the company who supplied me with the whole saws have sent me the wrong arbor so it doesn't fit the larger saw. I'm not having much luck buying stuff online atm.

Looking good those welds! Like the Dimple dies as well, profi-finish!

Nice welding machine, even looks like a real Binzel torch? Very good!

Planning on doing similar reinforcements.

Its just tap water and bi carbonate of soda. If i remember right i did it at about 2 litres of water to 1 teaspoon of bi carbonate of soda.

The engine block has been sent away for some work so once that returns I can crack on and get it built up again.

20150828_100448_zpshnen1j1p.jpg

I attempted to clean it. It didn't really work.

I got the trailing arm plates finished up. I need to wait for a mate to use his press but I should have them welded up by tonight.

I got a little back tracked on Sunday resolving some issues on a friends car so I got these finished yesterday instead.

Next up is making the torque rods and panhard rod adjustable.

Hey buddy! Good effort!!

It looks like me, Antz and you will be running a very similar suspension setup on the bricks. I have got Gaz golds aswell, and the rear are exactly the same too. What spring rates have you gone for? Thing i have extra is Kaplhenke Axle sphearical bearings and Adjustable panhard rod.

Good luck!

Adam
