Freaking IPD - again

First and foremost I am a fan of IPD - they were around making products and supporting this community long before anyone else ever even considered doing it on the large scale production level they did.

OK that said - some may recall my issues associated with their performance exhaust I installed on my C70.

Well fast forward just had the sway bars installed and after installation noticed a weird "clunking" sound during shifts. Went back to my mechanic today and he put the car up then showed me what the problem was - the sways are banging against the downpipe. Nothing that can be done about it - tried to bang the pipe into a better position etc but no go.

There is nothing unusual about this vehicle, the parts are supposed to be plug and play and are listed as applicable to the vehicle model and year.

Anyway just bitching. Second time around with an IPD upgrade on this car and it pisses me off that they haven't done their homework well enough to insure a trouble free installation.

Really?

Not even this?

We tried that - no go. If nothing else the downpipe is pretty solid.

We put all the other bitch posts in ot. Are all the other mods at the mountain meet?

How are the motor mounts? Maybe you have a bit of a saggy mount or two lowering the engine enough to make it hit?

Good question but they were installed when the motor mounts were being replaced so brand new. :e-shrug:

The other thought is the subframe bushings. Maybe some new bushings or spacers would help? Shouldn't take much. Of course you can have the downpipe cut and shortened a bit.

Might and not bad suggestions though I had him check the bushings when he did the mounts and he said they were in good shape.

Just gonna have to live with it - it's really not the end of the world just a nuisance at least for now.

C70 what hair salon do you work at?

Hey good one. I bet you have a million of them don't you? :sarcasticclap:

Typing them out to the interwebz while you sit on your urine stained mattress with a single bare bulb dangling overhead eating cold ravioli out of a can with a plastic fork giggling to yourself.

Just another big Saturday night for the Dick.

We are lucky to have you.
