Volvo 240: center rear wheel in arch - the easy way

Right, yeah I was think about that wrong. Since the front mount determines where the trailing arm is located fore/aft, changing the axle/trailing arm bushing mounting point won’t change the lower spring mount location. And good point about the suspension stiffness change

Volvo 240: center rear wheel in arch - the easy way

Also wondering if this affects rear spring alignment since it's moving the spring perch back?

Next I fixed the massive rust hole that made the car so cheap (first time doing frame repair) And installed the IPD turbo cam (sorry, no pics for this)

I also replaced the stock 80 amp alternator with a rebuilt Denso 100 amp unit. The Denso is smaller, which is super helpful since there is a lot going on in the surrounding area. It's also a bit lighter than the stock unit. The installation was pretty simple as I bolts up to the stock bracket...

Figured it was time for an update - done a lot of work on the car since May 2022. The car hadn't been kept up with mechanically, so practically everything needed to be replaced. The first thing I did was replace the ball joints, tie rod ends, and sway bar links.

    6 Point Harness Advice - 240 Chassis

Hey all, I have a track weekend approaching quickly and need some advice on a harness install. I do have a roll bar installed already and fixed back seats on BNE slider mounts. I have listed some questions, any advice is appreciated! 1. How do you install the crotch belt eyebolts? I saw that...

    LSD Advice for Track Days

Would have never thought that but my own research is saying the same thing. Apparently welded diffs can be pretty good when paired with bigger rear sway (which I already have) to help lift one tire during cornering. It would be super cheap and easy for me to do since I have my own welder. I do...

    LSD Advice for Track Days

Thanks for all the good info. I think I'm going to save up for the gripper and try to sort my suspension in the meantime to get as much grip as possible out of my open diff. Probably will do BNE spherical bushings and QSRC once they are back in stock

Going back to truetrac vs clutch type - what makes the clutch type better for track use? I was also seeing a lot of different options for clutch disks when looking at my options. New to the differences between diff types so bear with me.

I saw Coleman racing sells aluminum axle tubes for it that bolt up to a floater center section. I'm sure that would save some weight but cost a pretty penny

    LSD Advice for Track Days

I'm actually finding a lot of 9" rears some already shortened and some with an LSD for a comparable price to the 8.8. Would this actually be a viable option? I would need to figure out the length I need and weld on some new brackets, but that shouldn't be an issue. Also seeing that I can just...

    LSD Advice for Track Days

I'm seeing a price around $1200 shipped to VA from the UK for the gripper. The truetrac shipped with ring for speedo is $865. Seems like it might be worth it to spend the couple hundred extra on the clutch type? The other thing I'm unsure about is installation. I'm sure there are shops in my...

    LSD Advice for Track Days

Thanks for advice. Who makes the clutch type? Is wavetrac a good option too? I don't need it to be the fastest car on the circuit, so leaning towards truetrac right now
