Hello Guest, welcome to the initial stages of our new platform! You can find some additional information about where we are in the process of migrating the board and setting up our new software here
I was hoping to make the drive down Friday after work, but now my wife’s event pushes the departure time out to the point that I wouldn’t get there until lunch time on Saturday.
Vacuum leaks caused acceleration stumbles on mine. Virtually every rubber elbow and line was completely shot. The connections on the rollover valve over the fuel tank were a big leak along with several smaller ones under the hood.
It'd have to be a really big leak for it not to start though...
What you have circled is just flux residue.
Almost every single one across the top there is cracked and needs to be reflowed. Your system will work WAY better when you’re done.
I just went through your same meh air situation and it was the solder joints on the board at the green connector. Super common issue on these cars. Takes 5 minutes to fix.
I've not had good luck with Optimas in the past, and have close acquaintances with similar bad luck.
Interstate has done right by me for years now, though. I don't use the AGM, just the mid-grade MT series. Even the Walmart Everstarts aren't bad. There are only a few battery manufacturers...
I would go with whatever is easiest to change, because you're probably going to tear them up.
If you go to stiff you'll start messing up hard parts AND tearing up the bushing.
Evaporators are readily available and not that expensive, it’s just an annoying job but you know that already.
It wouldn’t hurt to flush it first and see what you get out of it. If it’s nasty after the first pass or two I’d probably just replace it again.
If you wedge the pointy end into the ring gear and the back side up by where the engine and transmission meet you’ll understand after it turns on you a time or two. If you watch transmission removal videos of virtually any longitudinal drivetrain they’ll explain something similar.
I used to...
What are you putting vice grips on? For the torque converter bolts you just have to keep the flex plate ring gear from turning while you remove them. A prybar does the trick.
You’ll have to move it forward some while lifting up. The torque converter in the transmission has a ~1” snout that goes into the crankshaft on the engine. Taking the fan off will give you more than enough space.
Going back in is tougher to get everything lined up on the 240s because they don’t...
