Hello Guest, welcome to the initial stages of our new platform! You can find some additional information about where we are in the process of migrating the board and setting up our new software here
99% sure I already know that I need to replace the starter. Car took a couple seconds to engage the starter heading out to work this morning. Same thing again on the way home. Stopped for gas. Nothing. Dead. Solenoid doesn't even click. Push started it and drove home. Pulled the signal wire off...
So I am working on a customers 1993 240 non turbo. Check engine light is on. Put the probe into sockets 2 and then the second time 6 with key off, then switched key to on position to attempt to pull the codes. When I push the button the light lights up but does not flash no matter how long the...
So, some of you who know me know I had a red 850 wagon, its my avatar. It was in pretty haggard condition by the end of its life. An undiagnoseable misfire, more body damage than you could count, a cracked windshield, etc. I had purchased a replacement chasis back in May for 400 from a customer...
Ok so through two motors the 850 has had a stumble/misfire/whatever you want to call it. Can roll into boost partially on throttle no problem. Stomp on it and no go. Coughs, bucks, etc. Builds boost fine. Have changed cao, rotor, plugs, wires, cam position sensor. Car has mods as per signature...
Anyone have any information on the limits of the 18t Volvo turbo? Both how many pounds of pressure before it loses its efficiency and is basically blowing hot air, and ideas on limits as to how much power it can make? Thanks!
Sooo last night I observed a flash from under the dash like a fuse blowing as I was driving home. Then the upshift arrow on the dash started flashing. A quick scan of the owners manual tells me this means a tranny error of some sort, please take to dealer.
Sooooo Volvo techs, what's the scoop?
So, got the motor changed in my 850 finally. Drove it a bit, it originally had some lifter noise, but it went away, then it got much louder. A friend had it at his shop and told me it was a bad rod bearing, I don't believe that. I still think its a collapsed lifter, the noise is all wrong for a...
I am bored, and should have my 850 wagon back any day now. Who else in the northeast is equally bored and would like to do something, even if it isn't right?
Set out to do this job today on my fiancee's mom's car. The belt had broken so I know its a crap shoot at best on bent valves. Used the very useful IPD article and the other article it references. Two problems. First, where the hell is the crank timing mark. The article describes it as appearing...
Is anyone planning to attend? I'll be going, I've never been to the museum before and I plan to check it out.
It's Saturday October 18'th. I am thinking about putting my car on the lawn, which comes with two complementary museum entries for 20 dollars. Car roll in is from 8-10.
Check it out...
So hold the pitchforks and torches for the moment if you wouldn't mind, but I've bought my second 850, after having had multiple 700 series cars before that. Car has some serious upgrades. Mainly an 18t, white top injectors, ipd 3 inch downpipe with high flow cat, RICA ecu tune and K&N filter...
Sister in law wanted a volvo so I found this gem for them, something to make both her and the brother in law happy. Its paired nicely with my 850 that I picked up for a really low price in a few of the pictures.
My father has an 88 740 Turbo. The motor has approximately 215k on it, give or take since it was replaced by the previous owner and they couldn't be sure of the milage. This week the oil light started coming on at idle and staying on from 1000 to 2000 rpm's. He replaced the sending unit tonight...
The turbo in my dad's wagon appears to have died. He wants to buy another used one, but we are unsure of what a reasonable price would be for one. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, or if someone has one that they want to get rid of that would be equally good.
Also as an aside, many of...
Alright so it would seem that a couple of the manifold studs on my fathers 87 760TI have broken all by themselves without any help from anyone. Is this common, any idea on cause, any "easy" solutions, has anyone even heard of this before? Thanks.
Ok so the volvo has a new kick. I have never had the drivers side door buzzer switch, it was absent on purchase of the car which is an 87 740 TI. Yesterday the door buzzer started NOT going off and the light in the drivers door only will not sut off. I need to stop the buzzer and the light, any...
Has anyone driven one before, are they as much fun as I think they might be? I was thinking today about when I finally graduate from law school and what kind of car I might like to eventually own and that was certainly on the list and was wondering if any of you folks might have had a first hand...
So far I have replaced the cap, rotor, wiring harness, injector resistor, ignition amplifier, what else could be causing my car to have an intermittent misfire? It sometimes runs on three cylinders, sometimes fine. Sometimes it will pull right up to 6km, sometimes dies at 4500. I can't figure it...
Is there any way to tell which brake calipers I have on my 87 740 TI Wagon, such as a number in the vin or whatnot, I know there is a tag on the rear drivers side door, but no idea what the number listed under brakes is refering too. Thanks a lot.
