M46: redline MTL or racing type F

I recently swapped whatever dark red fluid was in my M47 (ATF?) For redline MT90 (meant to buy MTL, oops) seeing that it's really cold outside currently it shifts a little worse when the car is ice cold, but once you get a few shifts in it shifts as good or better than whatever was in...

    PSA: Wagonmeister ATC Fuse/Breaker Panel

I just collect them from the parts store clearance rack. I couldn't count how many there must be in my glovebox by now

    PSA: Wagonmeister ATC Fuse/Breaker Panel

One of the most amusing things that's happened with my car was the one time I ever let a friend borrow it the fuel pump fuse lost contact in the middle of Boston, never something that's happened to me with the car before or sense. The vehicular equivalent of a pop quiz, I'd say

    240 Cat pipe flange differences

I've been meaning to replace my cracked rusty cat pipe on my 240 for awhile and magnaflow makes a nice drop in stainless piece for it, problem is that my car has the "floating" flanges where the pipe ends are round and squish together vs the magnaflow part that has a welded fixed flange and a...

    B21FT Rough Idle

If you have black smoke out of a gas car it's getting way too much fuel, if the car is B21FT it's Kjet which is notoriously sensitive to age and sitting for long periods. A vac leak wouldn't be the cause of black smoke because a vaccum leak would introduce more air and cause a lean condition...

    Metal splashpan heat question

The 240 splash pan/skid pan only covers up the front of the crossmember at the bottom so plenty of space for hot air to escape, if you're worried about engine temps maybe you could get one of the air guides that make the three vents on the valence work in theory

Current options for stock-like rear 240 shocks that last more than 6 months

I bought my 240 with bilstein B6s and from the literature I have on the car and the history I've got from owners and how the shocks look they must have between 100-150k. They're pretty stiff but not unbearable and really really long lived.

    3.0 PRV -B280E cams?

The PRV is such an interesting engine because the B27s have a reputation for being colossal junk but they were so successful racing in renaults and one set the fastest speed ever recorded at LeMans. French keeping the good stuff to themselves?

    D24 lost timing belt...

I'm surprised to hear of a D24 200 series still in use as a daily driver and outside of some diehard diesel fanatic who's willing to overlook its laundry list of failings. Hopefully you can find all the parts and special tools it's gonna need

    Corona centre cap

The 52mm virgo/rona centers are still produced by volvo, there's also a guy who machines them out of aluminum but he's from the Netherlands

Dog dish flywheel on a DD.

I swapped from dished flywheel to flat on my lh3.1 car. Rev matching is noticeably nicer now and I personally don't notice much/any more difficulty to launch from a stop. In all there is some difference but not a colossal amount and if you wanna swap to dished it should be fine

    Corona centre cap

I have a set of those on my current winter wheels. They squeak going down the road and it's kinda funny when you roll the windows down. They don't seem to be loose enough to fall off but I may pursue more tab bending/RTVing in the future. They have little spring clips that go in the middle to...

    Radio code for 1990 760

I had an issue recently trying to get a code for a junkyard CR-814, those have a weird 6 digit code instead of the usual 4 and screws up dealers real bad even if they decide they might be able to help you (most volvo dealers are clueless about RWD stuff now) what I did was emailed the PN, Serial...

    Gilda, the 92 240 GL

Not a real thread update but today marks the 1-year anniversary since I put the car back on the road post-crash and I thought it'd be good to commemorate Also if anyone has a gold hood/front clip in the Northeast USA that's not rusted to shit I'm STILL looking

    Gilda, the 92 240 GL

Its been awhile since the last update, not for lack of work just for lack of time, so here goes a bunch of stuff. I'd known that the water pump had a slight seep for awhile, but while I was doing the clutch, and again when I did the motor mounts, I noticed it was bad enough to be leaking...
