1800 best engine/ trans swap ??

When I worked at the dealer (1975-1988) the Mercedes parts rep, that was previously a Volvo parts rep told me that the steel for the bodies was made in West Germany. Shipped to Plate Steel Stamping in England,, which also made bodies for other British cars. The completed bodies were shipped back to Sweden for final assembly. This is why they cost so much.

So like equivalent of shipping from Ca to Nv and then to ND

Posted some photos on Sweed Speed.... Same QR code photo upload on TB but it keeps saying file too large even with only one photo. Tried directly from phone and file upload.
Bought a 2008 Saturn Sky Redline for the Turbo LNF motor and Aicin trans swap but decided to go LS-3 TR6060 Instead. The Saturn is for sale now on Ebay.
5" cut out of the firewall to get the motor back as far as practical, still plenty of leg room and room for Electric p/s, headers, p/b, a/c.
Explorer 8.8 already narrowed, getting rid of all the Volvo drivetrain stuff including interior, heater box, rear, brake stuff, wheels, gauges, reupolstered seats, etc..

The steel was UK steel for the body and pressed in Scotland and then assembled in England. UK steel was used in the 140 and 240. Volvo back in the day claimed to be a large part UK components assembled in Sweden.

"For me" the fun is the exceleration to do it right either LNF or Ls-3 motor should be behind the front wheel centerline so I chose to cut out the center section of the firewall 5"... the motor comes back 4". Parts for LS motors are plentiful and relativey inexpensive to any other motorr except maybe a SBC or BBC plus compact and all aluminum. Alot of the decision was based on the LS tunebility there are many LS stand alone injection systems out there so the need for buying "credits" through HP Tuners with a different engine configuration is avoided as evidenced by the seller of an LNF swapped P1800 on Bring-a-Trailer that couldnt get it running right. Injectors, minor head work, springs, stage 3 cam easy 500+ HP.
