1968 144S - Simple Motoring

It's listed here for $7K OBO, and am accepting offers. But I put it on Marketplace for $7800 because everything gets lowballed there.

I wish I hadn't. By this point, I've had to inform half the state that yes, it is still available.

... a very dangerous wish. It's a brilliant plan... but you may get so wrapped up in its success that you take a bath on the price just to make it come true. (Decisions made in the heat of battle, what could go wrong?) :roll:

Don't ask how I know. It still hurts to revisit my foolishness even 20+ years later.

It sold for $6500 in the end.
The buyer is a mechanical engineering student just starting college, who wanted an older car that's in good enough shape that it won't be an excessive project, but would give him the opportunity to tinker and learn. He's diving in head first, joining Volvo groups and eager to take it to cars and coffee, etc. Someday he hopes to put fresh seat covers on it and repaint it. In the meantime, he'll be driving it on weekends in SF and to Bay Area car meets.

I guess he didn't take to it because it is back on the market asking $10k.

Hi (I didn't bully him I swear was just figuring out his story :3 )

He said he didn't really want to sell it and he listed it at an exorbitant price because "he didn't want it to sell" (why list it in the first place?). I offered him help if he needed it but according to him everything is perfectly fine on it so :e-shrug:

Yeah I saw that too. What a bummer. I was hoping that it found a good home and would be loved.

It was pretty well-bought, so I wouldn't be surprised if he makes few bucks on it. Especially if he chases down some of the little things, like putting sidedrafts back on it or replacing the seat covers.
Then again, the market is totally awful right now, so it might take a while.
 
Does anyone have a good link for it? At the right price I'd actually be interested I think, closer to what he paid. My wife would kill me but she has always wanted a 140 :LOL:
