main fuel pump was occasionally loud and the wire behind fuse and relay would get hot. Whats a good replacement pump these days? Today after about 10 min sittining at idle it got LOUDER and car started jerking when trying to drive, pump was hot and after some driving it got better

I want to replace the in-tank pump at the same time. Should I give it a new relay too?

This is for daughter's car and shes moving away in about 3 weeks

Thanks
So far I only found main pump for efi cars on FCP. Not sure about the intank one

ipd's choices

vp choices - god their website sucks sometimes - not sure which one I would need. Im guessing the one for $132?

The challenge nowadays is if you are going to keep the oem connectors. It's not a total deal breaker but it is nice to use the stock connectors. The one for the B23E, etc seems like it has oem connectors and should be a compatible kjet pump. The one for the B21FT uses the aftermarket connections.

I’m fortunate to have an 81 with the b23e that uses the pumps that enter/exit from the end.
I installed the IPD upgraded in tank fuel pump kit.

All the KJet stuff I’ve read/watched seen (VW, Mercedes) advise using the a Bosch pump is always best, given the level of reliance kjet has on fuel pressure.

You could buy that from VP, or, get the exact same pump complete with fuel line and pump bracket for less from IPD. This is what I went though recently with jfry's 144. The kit is now more complete after I reamed IPD a new one about their "kit" offering. BTW, IPD supposedly supplies VP with the kit you are looking at. You need a pump that pumps adequate volume at higher pressures than the LH pumps supply. This is pretty much your only option unless you can find a NOS Bosch K-jet pump somewhere.

More of a curiosity

Why don’t they say it fits later cars too ?

If doesn't fit anything. You make it fit. You are going to have a fit making it fit. At least you are working with an 82 240. It will be much easier than dealing with a 1974 140, or, a 1975-1978 240.

Probably because it's a kit designed to replace the early style pump. This should be the replacement for the later style pump.

This is what is more of a direct fit. I won't consider anything MTC makes.

I think that’s what came with the car
