Wow....a lot of stuff has happened. After this was on the road for 200 or so miles I realized I had both a cam seal and rear main leak. Not wanting to leave these issues, I decided to crack into it.

Cam seal went in easy, at the same time I put in a new pass side motor mount the last remaining accessory bushing. Then I moved into the rear main. Time to go up.

Trans came out without a fight. Actually invested in a trans jack for the first time in my life and, lol and behold, it made the job a lot easier. Was quite apprehensive about the weight of the m46 and glad I for once put safety first. On first inspection this seemed like an easy job. Obviously had a very recent clutch job done. The rear main was a mess.

Bell housing was disgusting

Cleaned everything and was getting ready to put it all together, drained the trans and then this fell out of the drain (among other things)

After opening up the trans and attempting to reinstall said parts, I realized I was over my head. The trans actually looks great inside and was running flawlessly before I pulled it out, but it needs a competent professional to reassemble and reseal it. The whole shebang is available in the FS section Here

I had always wanted to t5 swap this car from the day I brought it home and figured this was the perfect opportunity. Unfortunately I had already bought ~$300 of odds and ends to refresh the m46 before finding it was hurt, including a new Saab pressure plate, new clutch pivot arm, yoshifab throw out bearing, assorted trans seals and more. At least the new arm and tob could be used for the t5.

So, after pre-heating my credit card in the microwave I hopped on yoshifab (thanks Josh!) and grabbed everything I would need. Luckily there was a nice t5 clutch and flywheel combo that would work with my b21 in the FS section that probably saved me a few hundred, but all in with trans I'm still looking around 2.2k. I decided to work with a guy in Albany who is building a WC t5 to spec with a 3.31 first and .73 5th, which only came in 95-96 v6 mustangs but has swapped to have the proper V8 input shaft. I hope to pick that up this week.

In the interim I was able to prep for the swap by doing a bunch of little jobs like sound deadening the trans tunnel (gross)

And silly fun stuff like this valve cover and my new catch can setup, phone charger and mbc.

And that brings us to today! Once the trans gets here, have to mount it and measure for the driveshaft which is sitting at a shop waiting with an sts upgraded center support and new u joints. Can't wait to get this thing back on the road and put a few miles on before winter.

Well, got the ole T5 in and cranked the boost to 11 staggering psi. Honestly with the 3 inch exhaust and the mbc this thing moves! Solid 11.7 to 12.0 afr under boost. Getting the hood on by myself was fun. Thoughts on this thing so far? Plan for winter is to get the hood and hatch painted, and then just enjoy it in the spring.

Wow, I love those rims. I recall the backspacing is different from one pair to the other... any reason you chose to make the front track wider, instead of the rear?

I'd love to see a pic of the clearances, especially of the ones on the rear since that's a size I'd strongly consider.

It wasn't my decision per se, this set is from another gentleman who had them on his 242. The backspacing is different to clear calipers. I couldn't put the fronts on the back if I wanted. As is, I had to slightly roll the rear fenders to clear. Both f and r are basically at the backspacing limit.

What makes it part of the ginger squad? You have red heads around you?
Car looks so good! I like your little touches inside. Does that already have an IPD turbo cam? If not that really helps with mid and top end power. Without even changing anything else you'll really feel the difference.

Thanks! The gingersquad is what my wife and I have called ourselves even before we had kids. Both Irish/Scottish descent and fairly ginger-y. No ipd turbo cam yet, I'm going to do a refurbished head/cam/90+ mani and b23f intake over the winter. Surprisingly quick already, kept up with a SQ5 yesterday (only in 2nd gear till about 60. I'm sure it would crush me on the highway). I am seeing that, when driving more aggressively, the afrs are not consistent. I am wondering if the stock in tank pump can keep up, will probably upgrade to the 740 pump over the winter too. Gratuitous shot because why not.

That's the basic bolt on upgrade plan I have done with my kjet. It is now on the well used side of all that because I started in the 90s with the intercooler and it was sorted to where I wanted it by about 05. I used to have a long writeup in the signature but changed that several years ago. I never did the efi manifold swap because I found out how poorly it flows. It's actually not much if any better than the one on there. I had one ported and flow tested and it cut the overall airflow by a huge amount. So I went the kjet B21f intake and bought that from DET17. It has bungs welded in for a fuel rail and efi. Not installed yet. I would put in a CBV if it doesn't have one in the turbo. If you did go to the efi intake I would also change the car to efi then.

If you don't have a shop for head work. I used D&F Performance in Berlin NJ. They know all types of engines and has done excellent work on my Volvo heads. I new stock intake valve is only about 15$ for the head I sent you pics of. It's the best of the used heads I have as it was a good runner on my car till that over rev valve float event.

Great to see you are enjoying the car! Turning out great. Happy Holidays!
