Looking great but god damn stop using the cheap hose clamps that cut into the hoses
Car is on blocks currently and noticed that there was a little puddle under the car. Seems one of the shitty ones I was using wasn't sealing well. I happen to have one more OEM style clamp I purchased from ipd that I didn't install and slapped that on, hopefully it cures the weep. Thanks for the heads up, and for the links @Harry Tuttle and @andyb5 . I'll be sure to replace the rest. All of the critical ones for cooling are now OEM clamps but there are few on the pcv system that are crap.

Little update: the puddle of coolant was my radiator leaking, so pulled that one and found a Nissens. Also, I really didn't like the the way the yoshifab t5 cross member worked with the stock t5 mount. I could see my brand new motor mounts sagging as the engine wanted to sink backwards. So, I chopped it up and made a new one to utilize the stock m46 mount.

Basically, I chopped it at the end of the exhaust U bend and flipped the other side upside down, then sectioned the L channel and used some flat stock to match the angle of the stock mount. Excuse the slightly askew mount, there was a lot of cutting and experimenting as I was developing the concept. Ideally I would start from scratch with this as a template, but with my 3rd daughter coming in Thursday time will be very limited and this will work for now.

Also built my own rear upper control arms to retain the stock bushings. Yes my welds are ugly.

I also made a bracket to space out the center support bearing to get the ideal angle.

So I've been busy! Also picked up some ipd swaybars and other exciting things, looking forward to spring!

Wow a update is way overdue here. In short:

1. Adjusted the angles for the trans and pinion a bunch of times and got the vibration down to an acceptable level
1.5. Had a baby (Grace!)
2. Did the Terminal 11 mod (which worked for a short time)
3. Thinking Terminal 11 was doing its thing and verified with AFR gauge, started increasing boost
4. For some reason it stopped working, then I inadvertently knocked off a pressure line going to the boost pressure adjustment.
5. Ping + HG let go.
6. Removed head, found bottom end was in not great (tired) shape.
7.5. Decided to rebuild turbo and swap to a B21F intake I had laying around.
7. Purchased a 54K Mile B21FT hand delivered by @Crustacean Wagon all the way from NH to NY.
8. Profit?

I noticed coolant on the ground after parking the car after my pinging incident. Pulled the head to check.

That she blows!

Then I looked at the bottom end...ugh. lots of weird scoring vertical and horizontal. Rings are WEAK. can tap the piston against the wall with your index finger.

Part 2 coming below

Well, after pulling the head I thought to myself this seems like a lot of work to put this motor back together with a very worn out bottom end. Off to face box market to see if there were any short blocks around. To my great surprise there was a listing for what seemed too good to be true, a 54k mile B21FT in NH about 4.5 hours from me.

Unfortunately the seller would not deal with a shipping service and there was no way I could leave my wife with a newborn all day while I f$&#ed off to get a motor. In desperation I wrote a a TB transport thread post to see if anyone would be willing to make the trip. To my great surprise @Crustacean Wagon not only volunteered to pick up 3 hrs from him but also deliver to my door! Goes to show you this is still the Best Forum on the Internet tm. Here she is in all her glory!

Some lovely cross hatching still very apparent. Can't wait to get the head off

Getting this thing onto the engine stand was sketchy. I had to remove the front set of wheels on the stand and place it on a wood block to get it close enough to slide into the stand receiver.

Finally on the stand!

Starting teardown to clean everything...

Much better! This is as far as I've gotten while also working full time and getting up with a newborn. Itching to get all the seals replaced, a nice refreshed head on and in the car!

Around the same time I figured I should get the turbo rebuilt. Not wanting to send it out, and realizing that the exhaust side of the entire engine bay was disgusting I decided it was the right time to get a parts washer. So that happened too. Great decision! Cleaned and rebuilt turbo with a kit from gpop shop in anticipation of a very nice .48 cosworth housing from @cosbySweater

That's all for now folks. Stay tuned for ripping the sad old b21ft out, putting together the new motor with shiny parts, and dropping it back in HOPEFULLY before the swedish meet at Lime Rock on April 13th @283SD

while also working full time and getting up with a newborn. Itching to get all the seals replaced,

I wonder how many new parents have considered this approach? It might make her stay cleaner for a very short time, but I daresay your precious bambino wouldn't be very happy with the arrangement...

But seriously, congrats! It feels great to see progress, whether in my own projects or someone else's.

Congratulations on Baby!

Find a shop near you that will balance the turbine. It’s worth the $80
I did mark position and replaced indexed the same way. Spoke to gpop shop and said it should be fine for this application. I am planning on picking up a tbird turbo soon so this one may be up for sale shortly.

Shoot, why are you selling it?? It looks so great!
I think a few folks are confused - I am selling the TURBOCHARGER that I just rebuilt, not the wagon. Although some day in the future I might sell the wagon, I still have a ways to go. Here is said Tbird turbo with a .60 coldside, .48 hotside and cosworth exhaust housing (not yet installed) courtesy of @cosbySweater. Rebuilding now!

Working on a direction for this 54k mile B21FT in another thread Bench build me a B21FT. Meanwhile I'm prepping the car for the head that's at the machine shop. Started off by finishing up the rebuild on the bigger Garrett I picked up.

I picked up this nice stainless rolling table for $100 on marketplace which is making things a lot easier. Work space is scarce in my garage.

Dont worry, the wastegate bracket will be replaced.

Next I focused on oil supply and remote filter. I found a nice filter head that utilizes the stock sandwich. Will install turbo first to see where the filter will get mounted. Also fixed the wiring for the oil pressure sensor and installed a new sensor at the same time.

Finally I figured out the linkage on the B21ft intake and painted it. At this point I am pretty much ready for the new head, excited to slap this back together soon. Last thing I want to install is a knocksense, next item on the list.

Has anyone watched the 82nd Goodwood revival? Some absolutely incredible racing. Dario Franchitti was drifting a priceless DB4 GT around goodwood like he was competing in FD. Absolutely nuts.

Late to the game and just read the whole thread, great progress!
Congrats on the baby!
