I have a 1989 Volvo 240 and am currently trying to revive the long dead AC. I have a service record from around 10 years ago that shows that a shop replaced the lines that run in front of the condenser and that the AC was working. Right now the system is completely empty and also filled with air.
The car also has a dealer installed R134a conversion kit. I was wondering what this kit actually changed about the system? Would the steps be any different than on a conventional R12 system?
pull a vacuum on the system and check for any leaks,
charge with proper amount of refrigerant and (PAG?) oil?
add dye and check for any more leaks?
What cooling performance should I expect with the system in its current state?
Thanks
