At the beginning the year, I picked up this 1993 240 classic #875/1500 wagon from another enthusiast. It was sitting for around 10 years. I brought a battery with me and threw it in. The car did start, but ran very poorly, so I winched it on the truck and went home.

After getting home, I diagnosed it and figured out that two plug wires were switched. I took it for a test drive to verify the engine and trans were good before I pull them for another project.

UPDATE!

I turbo LS swapped my 242 instead (see other build thread). This is becoming a daily driver style build now. My white 242 was 16v+t with a t5Z transmission, so I already had a good number of parts.

Found an uncracked +90 on eBay somehow.

Test fit in the car with the Mitsubishi 20G. I will weld an external gate to the turbine housing.

Test fit the 92+ intercooler setup.

Now that I have the important things test fit I will be pulling the engine, cleaning everything up, resealing, and installing the T5.

Here is the rest of the 240 fleet.

The day it came home! It ran, but ran rough, so I pulled it on with the winch.

I found the 2 and 3 plug wires switched. I took it for a short drive just to make sure the engine/trans/drivetrain was in good shape.

Hanging out with the rest of the fleet.

I look forward to seeing more of this build. It's inspiration for me to finally finish my wagon...

im more interested in the shifter location.
Gotcha. It's the same as the t5 Ford so should be right where it needs to go in the stock hole. The shifter can also be flipped if you wanted to move it.

Let me know if you need any measurements. This will likely get done through the winter, so I'm not sure on the timeline quite yet.

yea if you could measure the bellhousing flange to the shifter that would be awesome. i think i was seeing around 26 inches online? Im looking at manual transmissions for my ls swap right now. Thanks and cant wait to see how this turns out!

Ill get that measured this evening. I've been following your swap. I picked up basically the same exact 242 a few months ago for $700 and even thought about swapping that one instead, but it was a perfectly running and driving car, so its a backup daily at the moment.

Alright, so I was really wanting to go with a MaxxEcu, but realistically it was out of budget (sorry, scold me now maxxecu fan bois). I decided on the FT550 since I won't have to buy an additional display, and the price was right at about $1200 for the ECU and harness.

I want it too look like it belongs, so I designed this dash up that screws in place of the factory cluster.

I wanted to utilize the "hood" so that all the trim lines up properly and has a nice fit and finish. The hood just spot welds in place.
