I was wondering if anyone has the wiring diagram for the speedometer on here. I changed out my speed sensor and speedometer from a very nice one in from junkyard, And the connector wires look good but it still doesn’t work. I would appreciate it if anyone had any advice.

What year car did you pull the speedometer from?
What is the # (starting with K) on each speedometer face?

Only certain models are directly interchangable. If you have a way to generate a low voltage pulse signal you can test the speedometer on the bench. If you have a cheap scope you could test the sensor.

The only speedometers that will work in your 1993 240 are the K40168 and the K39200. The other K10042 and K9800 speedometers are designed for the 12 tooth tone ring used in non-ABS differentials. The wiring is flipped on the speedometer connector. If you don't have the correct speedometer, it won't work in your car at all when you plug it in.

I don’t remember the exact numbers but I do remember pulling one off of a 1992 240 with the same numbers and everything

And I just hooked up the obd and it said 3-1-1. It never said it before when I first ran into this issue but it is now saying it

You still have the new speedometer and the old speedometer, right? Look at the face of the speedometers. There will be a "K" followed by a number. That's what we need to check to know if it will work on your car.

No I did not the previous owner put tape on it saying it was for a tachometer so I can confirm that everything was put back the way it came out
The reason I asked is if you hook that wire up to the pin on the back of the cluster you kill the speedo the first time you start the car. The previous owner may have done exactly that if you bought the car with a dead speedo. Anyway, the ABS clusters are known to be failure prone. You may have bought a dead speedo from the wrecking yard.

Wouldn't a dead speedo not have the High idle issue? Isn't that typically a wiring or sensor issue?

Because when I bought the car it worked fine, but then one day it was all over the place wile sitting at a stop sign and it continued to do that for a week before it gave up and now the abs light it on the second I move

That sounds more like a wiring or rear axle speed sensor problem. The wiring coming from the rear axle speed sensor splits before reaching the front of the car. The same two wires go to the ABS computer and another pair from the same 2 wires go to the speedometer. If you lost both ABS function and the speedo at the same time you have a harness/sensor problem.
