2023 EAST vs WEST Drag Timeslip Thread

I have made a game day descision and have now created a third region. "International" is it's own group. And by the way things are going, the USA is getting beat up by some really fast v8 powered Volvos! Great runs guys! It's great to see people dipping down past the 10 second mark. and waaaay past the 10.00 mark sometimes.

I added some times for these first couple International entries. If anybody else who races outside the US wants to enter, please send over your data.

If those Volvo guys from Sweden start to submit some slips they're going to whip all our asses...

Haven't been able to run the car as much as planned this season but here is my best slip so far. 12.55" @ 107mph. leaving slow as this is a new clutch and let off just after 1000' because the rear axle/trailing arm bushings are letting go. That was an interesting feeling haha. Pass was made at Fatman's Invasion @ Kuhnle Motorsports Park 8/26/23

Yeah the Swedes have some absolutely crazy fast
Volvos, and they run on airstrips most of the time.

Also great to see some competition coming in from Canada. 8.9 at 150mph+ is awesome.

The only question is, what should I do to the Trolvo to catch him. Build up the 1200hp 1JZ or swap our 1200hp+ Barra engine into the Trovlo? :)

Yesterday was awesome! The 740 didn't miss a beat. Because we ran the jet semi yesterday for the charity event, I wasn't able to compete in Street Tire or Stick Shift. I did manage to get in 3 runs before I had to get to work. I FINALLY got into the 11s on my 225/50/16 Yoko All-seasons.
11.81" @ 130mph! I told myself I wouldn't put my radials on until I got into the 11s, but I kinda want to see how deep into the 11s I can go.
The 3 of us on the jet truck crew had a great day. Tony, the track manager/Jet semi driver got a new personal best 7.06" @ 197mph. My other crew member left early to pull in 3 different classes with his 5.9 Cummins swapped Oliver tractor. Winning all 3 classes. And I set a new PB for myself and the 740.
Anyways this was done 9/16/23 Kuhnle Motorsports Park, Rainbow Babies & University Hospitals Children's Race. Submitting for the East.

Both drag strips within an hour of me have closed up permanently. I think one of them is a drift track now. So my well wishes to you guys putting the rubber down.

The closing of drag strips seems to be ramping up and it breaks my heart, Sacramento Raceway just held their last big event before they close their doors. That is the first drag strip I ever went to, the one that started it all for me. My home track here in Ohio went up for sale almost 2 years ago. I assumed it was just going to close until it sold, and whoever was going to buy it wasn't going to want a drag strip. Fortunately a local trucking company purchased the track and has only been upgrading it since the purchase. I even left my old diesel shop to work for the company.

Long gone is the child in me that scoffed at people racing cars I wasn't into. I just want people to race. I don't care if it is a shopping cart with a 212 predator lol. Just get out there and race. Save our tracks!

Yeah, just saw about Sac last night, which was my home track for my entire racing 'career' prior to moving here last year. At least there's still an open track here, but at 4k feet. Might try and get one run in this year, dunno, as the car is really laggy with LH on it, can't get it out of the hole.

That's right. I forgot you are from out that way. Where are you located now?

Heartland in Topeka just announced they are closing but there was some drama with that. Not the usual new development noise complaints but taxes. The owner stopped paying taxes in 2016 and has been fighting the county in court over the increase in assessed value. He lost so now it's closing. Not sure if he's trying to sell it or the county is just going to repo the place. People making rumors that the county just wants to give it to someone else to run.

There is a new drag strip opening next year closer to me which is promising. They've been running a circle track for at least a year now and the drag strip is almost fully paved.
