I was at the JY today getting some interior parts and I was wondering if I could get some clarification. The plastic pieces that go here...

And here (Behind where the seat belt is) Pay no attention to what I am trying here!

Is there different colors? I know that there is tan and black but is there blue? My 244 Turbo came with the blue interior and I was wondering if cars that came with a black interior have black pieces or do all the dark colored interiors have black pieces? I was out in the sun all day and I couldn't tell if there was a difference.

So basically my question is IS THERE A DIFFERENCE?

My blue-interior silver-exterior GLT (GLE here) had dark blue in all those locations.
I think they did have black for some cars, regardless of the colour of the other parts, and on other cars they used more colour-coding than that. Dunno which years or which trim-levels though.

Honestly, your best bet on a Volvo is always to find the best plastic you can, regardless of color, then hit it with a matching SEM paint. The paint will protect the crappy plastic from further UV damage too.

OH, and wear some frickin' shoes to the junk yard!

This is good advice. It is really hard to find decent plastic that isn't brittle as a saltine cracker. I broke every one of those pieces trying to get them off both of my 242s... :-(

The window post and the lower door jamb are always black. The seat belt post plastic is the color used for the interior. At least all my cars are that way. Yes, there is blue for the seat belt post.

Where can I find SEM paint? Is it a brand name or a type of paint?

I wasn't even planning on doing anything at the JY until I found the headliner that I needed hence the flip flops.

IPD used to sell it for painting interior plastic, it's a good brand. They have colors that match Volvo interiors very closely. I can get it here at a place call Total Auto Parts - they have a lot of paint supplies and equipment.
