I got an 87 240DL, and ive heard before about speed limiters and such on them... Is this true? cuz mine doesn't seem to have it....

Most N/A 240's dont have the power nor the suspension to handle anything past 100mph. It's nothing to worry about. The M cam doesn't really make power over 5k either.

The '87 will hit the rev limiter at around 6000rpm. I banged off the limiter in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd countless times while I still had LH2.2 in my '87 244. It was fun.

Alright so it exists but what component is the rev limiter? If it’s one of the ECUs is which one is it? And which pin on the connector?

Its not a single pin on the ecu. What you want to do won’t work.

Why do you want to remove the rev limit anyway? Do you just want to blow up a motor?

My '87 DL topped out at around 95 the one time I tested it, and that was downhill. The wind noise and buffeting was terrible too.

That said it was much abused by the previous owners, and automatic, so probably some horsepower was left on the table.

To tweak the rev limiter you must reprogram both the ignition and fuel ECUs. Depending on what EFI you have this may be impossible. The cars with Bosch breakerless ignition originally had the rev limiter baked into the rotor and you can just swap out the rotor for a generic one. Stock rev limiter is 6k-6.2k, that's enough for even the hottest factory cams NA. Even the RBP tunes have a stock rev limiter.
