3D Printed Parts Thread

Requesting a part to be modeled. Speaker/speaker grill mount for the 5.25in speakers/grills that came on the rear doors of 1993 240 wagons so I (not quite yet, but I might pick some up if someone makes these mounts), and others can mount aftermarket speakers with the OEM grills for that factory look. If someone is really up for a challenge, it would be cool to find a way to mount aftermarket tweeters with the OEM tweeter covers that came on the 93' wagons. Thanks in advance!

I'd do it if someone would loan me a reference part.
Edit: I *thought* I bought one on eBay, I guess I got the 4" version. Does anyone have a part number?

Does anyone have the .stl for the 3rd brake light cover on a 240 wagon? One place is selling a print for $60 which is laughable considering the PLA cost.

Well you wouldn't make it out of PLA because it would warp like hell. You would need to print it out of a ASA or better to insure no issues, which costs more and take a better printer typically. Plus if they made a model themselves that takes quite a bit of time and skill. 60 is pricey but fair if they did all the work

Why would it warp? Maybe I missed something but it's not under any heat stressor, doesn't experience any sort of torsional stress, etc. It just sits there. Maybe we're talking about different things.

I think mainly it's silly as the OG cover is still available and the same price.

The car gets more than hot enough to warp pla in the summer sun. I have had many pla prints warp if left in the car

Ah, I got you. I haven't had the same experience, so I didn't think of it. It could definitely be an issue in a warmer climate. PLA is fine for me.

Yeah...it doesn't take much...I've had PLA warp just from being in the glove box in the summer.

Ran the part under hot water from the tap, bent it back and secured it till it cooled...

Here in Texas I can soft boil eggs if I leave them in the glovebox in summer.

Hi guys, I'm new to this 3d printing game and 240 ownership. I love the car BUT, I am old and can't remember a vehicle not having cup holders....lol....yes I can but damn....I need cup holders in this 240....!!!

I have seen a couple of printed versions here and was wondering what you guys have done or used to solve this huge problem.
Also is there someone here that prints things for a fee or do I need to find someone?

Thanks in advance.......sitting here holding a coffee....lol.

Willys we are always happy to print anything you need for your Volvo! We can print in materials that will last longer than original ABS parts.

Regarding cupholder specifically, we are indeed design a beefy cupholder (I have another thread somewhere), but if you want something now, happy to supply an existing model.

Gauging interest in this commercially viable rear main seal tool for redblocks. Test print came out perfect--zero measurable warping when printed nearly 100% solid (~55g ASA filament).

Haven't seen a similar, inexpensive (~$18 USD) tool like this yet, but please let me know if you think I'm missing something!

I'd buy that, looks super useful.

G'day from down under fellow Volvo nerds. I'm a CAD monkey by trade and I got my hands on an original Volvo 1300591040 Fog light Cover. I have meticulously 3D modeled this using my trusty Vernier Calipers and a 3D Scanner to ensure maximum dimensional accuracy to the original. Additionally I have drawn up some SVG decals ready to be cut into vinyl decals in 3 styles (Original, Graduation style redesign & "JDM" style for all of you boy racers)

I have published the design to my CULTS3D Account and it's available for purchase here
USE Promo Code: TURBOBRICKS2024 for 30% off

Feel free to make requests for additional vinyl decal designs.
I have included recommended 3D Printing settings on the CULTS3D advertisement. Recommend an SLA/DLP/MSLA resin 3D Printer to capture the details.

Note: This part is styled off of the Bosch Pilot fog light product, but physically designed off of an OEM Volvo fog light cover. My research dictates that these are dimensionally identical, but fitment to a Bosch Pilot replacement fog light has not yet been verified (If you have an original Volvo 240 or 740 Bosch Pilot fog light: inbox me here or at (my email) I will provide the files for free if you can verify fitment)

Not quite sure where a piece of pipe gets you as the seal is intended not to sit flush, but past the chamfered outer edge of the case :)

I -might- have a fix for the NLA dog gate clips?! Fell down a rabbit hole with the dog gate clips last night - found this video which recommends using a part from a popular folding cart as a clip.

Here's the clip - can't find a source that would ship to the US.

I researched similar clips for a folding table and found this file - I think with some basic modification it could work. Gonna print it and see how it scales with my earlier model rack. Once the size is right shouldn't be too hard to modify it to accept a self-tapping sheet metal screw/etc.
