3D Printed Parts Thread

For your 900? Should be printing one out for myself tonight, could print you one if it lasts a week in the heat
I was/am working with Led to get a plate printed. I was able to make these modifications in the slicer to incorporate a USB hub and widen the cubby. Lmk if this interests you. I can print in materials that are not at risk in the heat/UV.

Has anyone tried printing and using the center caps available on Cults3D: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/gadget/volvo-hydra-center-cap-to-65-1mm-bore

At $5 for the .stl, it's something I'm going to try for my Hydras that I've been procrastinating on refinishing. Unless someone here gives me reason not to. I like that one option of above design has the logo prominently embossed. I'm not color matching to original, and that will be a huge plus over decals.

I have no personal experience with 3D printing, but my local public library will do it for me for only $2 plus cost of materials. Or I can learn to use the thing, and do it myself. Someday...

I have had good luck with petg in 115° weather, though I know others have not.

I think most car plastics inside are ABS.
...
This is what I've been told. By a guy who has used ABS cement (for plumbing) to good result.

FWIW, I've found the plastic in my '95 940 to be significantly more robust (able to survive multiple R&R) than that of my wives former car--a 2010 BMW. The latter always garaged and with dark (35%?) tint on all but the windshield. My 9 was always garaged except for the last three years.
I had to mess with the BMW panels a lot, as a lot of things (hydraulic wagon gate, several electrical issues, fuel pump control module, window motor) needed attention.

The plastic on her 2015.5 V60 has been fine, but many of the clips have broken during R&R.

I had a PETG vent gauge that failed in May New Hampshire weather many years ago. The geometry of the part certainly plays a role.
I have had a double din radio bezel in a 245 that could survive the 240 heater along with a couple holders in the 245. I even have a pla cupholder I printed 10 years ago that warped the first summer, then hasn't warped more

could anyone make a 3d printed version of the window crank armrests witha slot too add the electrical switches from an electric windows volvo 240... i got tired of not having a driver window so i threw away the motor and put a crank window in now i cant use the old arm rest because it gets in the way of the window crank :(
there isn't really anywhere to put switches on the manual window armrest, that's why they redesigned it for the power windows

A few new files uploaded to our Cults3D page, including those stud-mounted cable tie adapters in your engine bays:

I Made seat back adjuatment knob. The majority of my seats have broken or missing seatback angle adjustment knobs, and I didn't really want to spend $50+ to replace them. I could not find a 3D printed version, so I spent a few hours modeling and prototyping one. I have not torture tested it yet, but I have printed 2 and installed them in my 76' that I am rebuilding. they feel pretty sturdy and work for now. I'll see how they do over time, but if anyone is printing ABS or otherwise, they would probably hold up well. I made them a little beefier than stock, but not larger overall.

You are awesome! I am printing this now in regular PLA but plan on making a ABS print. There was another print out there but I failed to realize when I printed it out , it was non functional and it was just supposed to look nice. I just installed a refreshed seat today and this knob is the last thing I needed.

M47 shifter cage bushings.
Yeah, you can order them cheap, but I can print these in 2 hrs and be back on the road.

The 740/760 US Spec Headlight bezel "Doors"...

I feel like I've seen some movement in printing these...but because of where they are on the car...I'd think they'd like need to be printed out of some pretty heavy duty material (ABS? Nylon?).

Has anyone had any luck? Or does anyone know of someone who's had luck printing these? Because of so many original ones that are broken, and the european guys snapping up all the US ones, I feel like there'd be a pretty good market for 3d printed replacements...
