Okay I am lost call i can find is 240 stuff which does not fit the bill. 1992 740 with a late m46 was AW71. The automatic shifter has four connections
-Blue and Yellow with Black Connector - Went to AW71 overdrive solenoid (yellow wire & blue wire is blank)
-Brown and Blue with Yellow Connector - Went to over drive switch on shifter
- White, Blue/Green, Blue/Red, Black with Black Connector - White & Blue/Green jumped to start engine and Black & Blue/Red is reverse switch on transmission
-Black, White, Blue, Grayx2 with Black Connector - was PRND light and Shift lock (unplugged for now)

Pulled the White Relay and Installed correct Red Relay

Right not the black (two pin) connector with yellow wire is going to OD solenoid, blue is unused. The Yellow brown and blue wires go to the 5th gear button

Driving the orange overdrive lamp is on always until the 5th gear button is pressed and then 12v's goes to the OD solenoid. you can put OD on in any gear obviously with no idea where that wire goes.

How does one correctly install this. Normal OD operation and shift light.

Maybe you have already seen this. It is likely from a 240. You may have to fudge the wire colors, and they may not exist in the auto car quite like you need.

To wire it properly you have to go by the wiring diagram for a 91 740 with M46. That's the last year we got one in the US. Follow that diagram and use it to wire the o/d correctly. The other choice is to use Harry's diagram above. Both setups are wired the same way just different physical layout with the fuse box and relay location.
