Hi, i would like to pull out the switch so that i can bypass the rheostat. Does the whole switch assembly come out or do i need to remove the whole panel to access the rear of the switch

I'm pretty sure the switch is too large to fit through the hole in the console. This is a pic of the NOS one I have for sale on eBay.

If the dash plastic is the same as my early 240 that rectangular piece that the switch goes through does not come out like the other peices do for switches etc. It's just a hole for the rheostat. Pop the knob off the front of the switch and remove the thin threaded nut. Don't lose that nut... then pull the switch out from the back.
