92 245 16" Wheel/Tire Swap for Current 15" Clearance Issues? Spacer Width?

I've searched and haven't found anything for this specific potential swap.

I have a 92 245 wagon and have been given a set of 04 xc70 16" wheels with new Continental 205/65-16 tires. I'm currently running 205/65-15 tires on 89 740 turbo wheels and wanted to try the 16".

Which spacer thickness would I need to use? Will there be clearance issues?

How will the tracking, handling, and ride be effected?

Thanks

ride will be similar i'd guess. 25mm spacers should get you there. I'm running S60 T5 wheels on my 940 and also a set of Pegs, both 17's and only the pegs rubbed because of an inner wheel weight, i moved that tire to the back and no more issue and those i believe are 8 inches wide. The S60 wheels are a bit more narrow. I'm guessing you'll be good to go all around. other users will have better insight

Those tires will have 1" more diameter, so your speedometer will be about 4% off.
And the car will be even slower if it's stock volvo power. Try running a lower profile tire to get closer to stock diameter. Volvos recommended tire for a 16" on a 240 was 205-55-16. Which is still taller than stock on a 240.

Thanks for the good info. The car is original, under powered by race standards , it seems fine for everything I do and have done for the last 360k miles, clock now over 460k miles. It would be nice to have a turbo or a b204gt, but I don't feel like doing a swap. Maybe at a million miles it will be time.

Will the larger and heavier 16" be a noticable detriment?

Except for maintenance and swapping the steel with 185-70/14" for the aluminum turbo with 205-65/15", it's stock. The only thing I noticed with that swap was the ride was a little better, and maybe the Speedo was off a little, 2-3mph? I figured the 16" wouldn't be that much different, and I'll be getting a free set of new quality tires they paid $600 for. I'll try them and see if I prefer to my 15". I think I do like the 740 turbo style wheels better than the xc70 6 spoke 16". Thoughts?
