Hi everyone, I want to put a 2.5 inch turboback exhaust on my 940 (signal red estate with a b230fk and a m90)

I've been putting off doing any proper mods to it for a while because i'm worried i won't like the result but f it i need some risk.

What would you people reccomend me to purchase? I think I want a turbo back exhaust?
The ones i've seen online are only cat back and I kind of want a new cat I assume my one isn't doing the best after 30 years, 130k miles and loads of heat cycles.

If anyone could offer me some advice I would be very grateful (My long-term power goal is 190hp ish) still want it comfortable and not too loud as its my daily.
Thank you!

I built mine from pieces. 2.5 inch cat, two 2.5 inch stainless mufflers and some stainless pipe.

I brazed it together. It’s louder than stock but just a little.

The 2 muffler JT Tuning ones seem quiet enough and good quality and can come with a cat. May as well switch out to a larger TD04 with a better flange since JT offers the 7/9 exhaust with a straight flange (edit; and apparently also an angled flange). It'd be a waste to upgrade the downpipe while keeping it conical flange.

On my 740 I'm running a 3" jt downpipe to 3" high flow cat to the Simons 2.5" catback and it's super quiet with a little bit of drone. It didn't take much to fab the cat part as it was pretty much a straight shot.

Simons makes a 2.5" turbo back for the 240...perhaps they make one for the 7/9 too if you are looking for a complete bolt on solution.

Have your MOT tester give you a print out of the results from the emissions test before you condemn the cat. If it fails or should you opt for a sports cat, it's worth hanging onto the original as they're worth a fair amount when prices are fair or good. The originals have a heavy load of the rare metals unlike many of the generic modern cats, although your 940 won't need a type approved cat.

I had a full 3" system built on the car as I also opted to use a 19T with the angle flange. 200 cell sports cat, 2 boxes. V bands for ease. It's quiet enough for daily use although does have a bit of drone to it. Cost wasn't all that dissimilar to an off the shelf system and I got to choose the tips, box size etc.. I wanted. If I was doing it again, I'd likely go for 3" downpipe into the cat, then a 2.5" cat back just to trim the drone and volume a little more. I have seen a few off the shelf systems in person and the only one I'd even half consider is the Simons system. I'd only add that a sports cat can sometimes be an issue at MOT. Mine has to be absolutely stinking red hot to have a chance to pass.

You can get a 3” dp and 2.5” system from KL Racing, maybe other vendors as well.

True. Perhaps things have changed but my KL 3" 240 turbo back required extensive work to fit and the welds on the downpipe were pretty terrible. This was about 4-5 years ago when they were trying to pass off their exhaust as JT using photos nabbed from JT's site. Pretty shady.

I would suggest going with a twin silencer system and not drop down to a single for noise. As you are also UK then stainless is really a must for it to last
