'95 960 goes T5

so I had a not so brilliant idea about using the 6cylinder intake manifold and not the ME7 one, because:
1. I don't have to worry about IAC placement
2. Throttle linkage is bolt on
3. IC piping is piece of cake.

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT USING THAT INTAKE. It was a huge mistake...
Its bulky, ugly, iac interferes with the master cylinder, and the bottom is waaaaay too close to the positive terminal of the starter.
I have to redo the intake side withthe ME7 manifold.

Made it shorter

Cut a runner off and welded it shut

Wiring, yay!

And the final result, it is fairly tidy, I still have to make an ECU box. Now it just sits next to the air filter.

sounds good. does he sell the kits or is this a beta deal, for testing?

A 5 cilinder swap sounds more and more tempting. Need to have something to do when the T6 is finished :-P

Don't quote me on that, but probably I was the 4th one who got it?
I got the beta version, because it had some sync issues (car only starts for the 2nd try, but it does that instantly). I received an upgraded bin from Aaron few days ago, but haven't had the chance to try that.

Top tip, use the intake from newer whiteblocks! 2000 and newer iirc

Yeah I know, we have like 3 in the garage :D

the idea was with the 6cyl manifold is I don't have to worry about throttle linkage and IAC placement. Everything was bolt on.
Which happened to be not true for many reasons.

And I have to pull it out (yeah, that's what she said, I know)

It's great how the humor is the same half a world away

You've also got to love how in Europe even the garages have brick/tile floors!

I'd like to see more swaps like this instead of the too-easy-way-out-V8-swaps.

Regards,
Eric

oh, btw, the car has IRS now. Not driveable, yet.. but standing on its own feets now.
It was a b*tch to install and is still being a bitch..... encountered so many problems with the swap. Lot of cutting, drilling and welding were involved. Along with sourcing stupid little parts.
But the hardest part is to put together the trailing arm/spring/shock combo
Also has modded G80.. ;-)
