A/c intercooler to non a/c intercooler

Hi there
Currently I have a a/c intercooler but can I just straight swap to non a/c intercooler with pipes or do I need other bits etc?

Many thanks

so you are trying to bypass the turbo intercooler? A 95 has the best the factory intercoolers got. Or you are trying to do?
No it’s a air con model but I would like to put a non air con model intercooler in it so was wondering would it be a straight swap

Ah, yes, it is a straight swap. the intercooler is supposed to be in a sandwhich behind the a/c condenser and before the radiator.
Ahh perfect so the non air con intercooler isn’t going to move the radiator towards the engine?

I think the only difference between AC and non-AC intercoolers is the location of the inlet and outlet pipes on the side tanks.

No. The radiator is much wider on the AC model than the no-AC model, the pipes won't fit around the radiator. Additionally, the non-AC radiator sits where the AC radiator does and pushes the radiator back toward the engine.

So if if I was to use a non a AC model radiator model and pipes I would be fine?

Yes, and the fan and fan shroud, unless you trim down the AC model fan to fit, but there will not be very much clearance to the water pump (like 10mm or less)
May I ask why you're wanting to convert to a worse setup than what the car came with?

just because I can fin the intercooler a lot cheaper than the AC model one I know do88 do a kit but it’s like £700 🤮, was getting an alloy rad anyway so thought it would just be better

How come it’s worse?

Less cooling area for radiator and intercooler, worse flow.
As FA182 posted above, the KL intercooler is a direct replacement and a very nice upgrade for not a lot of money. I have one in my T6 760, I went to the AC style wide radiator at the same time.

Do they sell that radiator too?

If you have air conditioning you already have the larger radiator. Just get the correct A/C equipped intercooler from KL Racing and you'll be all set.
Sweet cheers mate, one other thing I’ve got the 3” maf housing is there anything on the web about how to swap over the electronics?
