Hey guys,
this is Kyle from Mesa, AZ. I ran into a bit of a problem with a coolant leak that started yesterday and I was hoping you guys could help.
It happened last night a few hours after changing the thermostat.

Here's what I know:
It leaks all the time, regardless of if the vehicle is on. If there's coolant, it will leak.

The Water Pump was replaced in September.

When my friend and I put in the new thermostat, we did not use gasket sealer as we were told this wasn't necessary on a 240.

It's leaking from an odd spot, mostly dripping out of the silver-y thing behind the oil pan, with the occasional drip seeming to come from the center of the oil pan itself.

It leaks a drop about every second and does not stop.

I'll also be posting this on the volvoclub.org.uk forums as I could use as much advise as possible.
Please help!

Well, there's not much on the backside of the motor. There's coolant lines that run to your trans, there's stuff underneath the intake manifold, and there's a red pipe that runs from behind the head to the water pump. Your best bet is to get under the car and start lookin around for the source. It'll likely be pretty easy to find.

Might help to hose everything off first, drive the car to dry it off, then go searching around. At this point there's probably coolant everywhere and it might be more difficult to find. If you're still having trouble, pressurize the cooling system and go hunting around for coolant peeing out somewhere. Physically moving hoses and lines to inspect is best.

crack in a heater line next to the firewall? There's two.. one goes on the pipe connected to the water pump around the backside of the motor. Best of luck..

yes, those rubber hoses often split.. and it's very hard to spot if they are broken, as they are S shaped. I'd poke it/push it with the engine running.

Heater control valve is cracked. Part of the heater control valve is made of plastic, the neck is known to break. It will drain all of your coolant fast. It will also appear to be leaking from transmission.

Heater control valve and/or heater hoses would be best place to start looking.

I noticed you didn't use sealer on the T-stat. I'd at least like to verify you used the o-ring that goes around the t-stat.

And plus 1 it probably being heater hose related.
