Well, with the sale of my '63 rustbucket wagon, I was not really sure when/if I'd find another Amazon project. I really liked the car, but it was just too much of a project to chew with the time I have available at the moment. I sold that off to a buddy with most all of my spares.
He picked that up about 3 weeks ago, and I replaced it with a '70 C10.
Or so I thought.
About a week and a half ago, @stick70 forwarded me a Marketplace listing for a blue '66 wagon in central Georgia. It looked pretty solid from the few pictures on the ad, so I sent out a message but didn't hear back. After about 12 hours. I just assumed the car was already gone.
Then I got a reply back that was just a phone number, so I called immediately. Apparently the guy had been swamped with interest, but I was the first to call. My only question was "Can I pick it up Friday?" and he said yes. I called in a favor from @Wren and since he was reasonably close, he dropped what he was doing and went and paid the man for me.
The next day Gordon and I hitched up my dolly behind the 240 and pointed it South. After a quick stop at Waffle House and a meetup with Wren to trade cash for keys, then it was on to the seller's house to pick it up.
The exterior is pretty good. Really not any huge amount of visible rust, the body panels are remarkably straight, it's a decent looking car really.
Interior is a bit worse for wear for sure, but that's expected after nearly 60 years.
And under the hood is the expected B18.
The underside of the car is remarkably solid. There's about a 6" section of frame channel that'll need to be patched, but apart from that it's so, so, so much less rusty than the last one.
So spare wheels with rally tires on the back, down off the jacks and onto the dolly and STOOOPPPP dammit. Dude helped us load it, but got a little too excited and pulled it off the front. Luckily, nothing really got hurt and after another half hour of shuffling, we finally go the dolly out from underneath.
Then we got a little tour of the guy's collection:
The rest of the trip home was uneventful
And got pushed into the shop
Once I got it home, I threw a battery and some fuel at it to see what would happen and...
I haven't even unpacked the car yet, I have no idea what all was included with the sale, but I know for sure the bumpers (or some bumpers) are, a new windshield, and some other miscellaneous parts came with it. In order to drive this thing, I really just need a pair of brake calipers, the ones on the car are super seized, so the first project will be to try and get those freed up and rebuilt, but if I can't get them apart of if they're too far gone, I'll just buy new ones.
Anyhow, let's see how long this one sticks around.
