Any NorCal Groups out there?

You just picked up an express, you need to come by. I'll PM you the address.
Well... I also just broke down in an Express. Came over the last mountain right before Hornbrook CA and she popped. Radiator fluid everywhere. Got all over the hood and panels. Stained the pretty blue. (To my knowledge no getting that stain off) Was able to make it 572 miles out of the 859 miles needed. I feel like that was a success with a 4 speed and 4:10 gears. Just waiting for the tow truck now.

If you end up in Stockton, we will get that to stain out. I've got some good cleaner. It gets the grease stains off my white paint.

How goes it now ?

Hey Jack thanks for checking in. Made it back home... on a tow truck since the CA/Oregon border. Yes Bcyrus, first call to AAA was a 5 hours wait. The paneled rear windows really helped keep it cool in there. Next day tow was a 25 minute wait. My mileage calculations were off I did exactly 630 miles before she popped. Radiator seems to be the issue. Small hole.

I'll post a picture probably on my Instagram first since the photos are all on my phone and I have catch up for my workload in the next week or so as I am swamped with work. Instagram is also a few days behind as I am new to it and need more time to post etc. I only started posting there because my sister said I always have the coolest one off cars and should start one up. I saw an opportunity driving back the 9xx miles. I put a Instagram sticker on the rear window. I'm off track. Here's the long version of the issue:

I noticed a slight smell of coolant in Portland Oregon when I was visiting Swedish Relics. Cameron is a Volvo expert though he is humble and probably doesn't think so. He actually worked at IPD for years and was one of the guys that pushed to keep 140/164 parts in stock. Owners wanted to move to another market. Back to the problem, Cameron found the leak. There are two mounting holes at the top of the fan shroud. Both have screws, one was screwed in too tightly. Coolant was leaking from one. Small dribble. We both hoped nothing more from it as I already drove about 330 miles from where I picked up the car. When I was at IPD about an hour before no smell, no coolant splashes under the hood. I drove the car pretty easy as the 859 mile trip (was more because IPD and Swedish Relics and other stops along the way) I wanted to make sure I made it. Either way I grabbed 4 gallons of distilled water and headed on my way. The last big push out of the Oregon Mountains the 145 near the of the hills before the decent the temp started rising. I coasted the whole way down. Some parts only doing 45 mph. I went through the California Agricultural Inspection Station and noticed the good ol white vapor shooting out the hood. Stopped cleaned her up and waited for the tow truck. First tow to Chico for my AirBnB and second stop around the corner from my house. I don't want my neighbors to think the car doesn't run. I tend to have a lot of cars and they always are upset about it. In 2020 I had 8 vehicles but started selling them as the prices people were willing to pay was crazy! I am only down to 4 cars/trucks and 2 motorcycles. I sold 6 in 2020.

I'm off track. She is home safe now I've never worked on a 145 before but I've worked on plenty of cars. I'm slow but have lots of patience. I'll take out the screw but feel the radiator has to come out to access the issue fully. Will go from there.

Big shout out to Chris at IPD too! Being the president of the company I figured he'd have too much going on to talk to me. He made me feel very welcomed there.

I am going to try and make it to their May event next year if anyone was interested. Definitely need to make her more road worthy the 4:10 4 speed was killer on freeway. M41 is in the picture or another swap better than the M41 would be ideal.

Oh I forgot I already posted the picture on the thread norcal jy network. Been a long last 3 days.

I also noticed what sounds like an exhaust leak near the manifold area on my 3 day of driving. So add that to the list as well. Overall super happy still, cars will always break and I will always fix them. It's about the ride.
