Any way to modify the temperature compensation on a later style 740/940 gauge?

I was reading up on bypassing the compensation function the the temperature gauges on the earlier style 740/940 gauges, however I have a 91 cluster and the gauge is different.

Disappointingly there is one resistor and a big black covered IC board. I'm curious if anyone has messed with these gauges. I have two spares I can play with,
