Hello,

I have assembled a b6304fs(91 model) with stock pistons that I shaved the top off, I put a 3mm decompression plate between head and headgasket to get the CR down to 8, I used china h-beam rods.
I will use a super hx40
I Wired a MSX3 to the engine
Closed the deck with moroso engine block filler.
Everything else is stock.

What I am unsure about is what I should set the revlimiter to, and also what is the stock revlimiter set to?

I think stock is 7300 or 7700?

And thats about the end of what you want to do with it. Power band is falling by then, you should’ve shifted already.

I’ve heard folks spinning the stock stuff to 8000. I wouldn’t go past that on the stock crank. The turbo 6’s from the P2 cars have a better, lighter crank.

I was hoping that someone here had some experience with these engines regarding how the power curve is with different setups and valve float.
I'm running a b6284t bottom end with a 960 b6304 head, my rev limiter is set to 7500 and I don't get valve float. It is still making power at that speed.

I mean, I pretty much said it. The B6304 as it is offers no benefit to spinning it above 7k. That why the rev limit is just above 7k stock. The automatic has already shifted much sooner, and if you have a manual there's no reason to be at 7k, because the torque curve is rapidly declining past about 6.

You can get a lighter, stronger crank and better valve train parts from some of the other 6 cylinders which WILL let you spin it up to 8000 or more, BUT and its a big BUT, you won't make any more power up there unless you've ported the head, done something about the intake and the exhaust, and maybe even bumped up the compression a little. There's just NO REASON to spin it faster than 7000 rpm if its mostly stock. You'd have to throw many speed-bucks at it to move the power band up higher than that.
