I am preparing to put a new windshield in my '93. DIYing because I want total control over the trim choice and any rust repair if needed. I have had problems with the trim completely covering the windshield ledge in the corners in the past. What is my best bet for the trim?

OEM Volvo 3540053 from VP?
3/4" generic trim from amazon?

Something else?

I just did this with 25mm universal trim from GT Tools. 75 foot roll for $56. Was easy enough to work with. Results were okay for a thoroughly amateur slightly rushed job. Check the “Daddy $400 rallycross 245” thread for results. I wouldn’t go less than 25mm. 19mm would probably leave some gaps.

Thanks for the advice! Any reason to go with 31mm do you think? or is 25mm plenty? Do you think the butyl tape is better than urethane? I think I would be buying a cordless caulk gun to do the urethane. I did a windshield on my 242 20 years ago with a hand operated gun and only one tube of urethane. Pretty hard squeeze! It leaked, probably because I had to ration the one tube .

25mm worked pretty well. 31mm should also work well, though may have some interference if you have an A pillar antenna. I picked up a couple tubes of 3m window weld urethane, and ended up returning them, because no one in the state had the correct primer for it. I used the 3m 3/8” butyl ribbon and por15. The butyl is a lot cheaper, and so far seems to be holding well enough. Might use urethane for a more sturdy/permanent install.
