BNE Dynamics BA Brembo brake kit wheel woes, what wheels fit!!

I found that to be true as well, the face of the caliper was more of an issue than the outer diameter as far as clearance. I am also doing a 17Z swap, I just am resigned to the fact you can't use a rim with much of a dish and the spokes can't curve in very deeply.

Check out the pic, tons of room on the outer side. Hard to see the spoke clearance but you can get the idea.

Thanks for the details!
In an effort to keep this thread on task, lets not dive too deep into R-Brake specific info

#ApplesAndOranges

Looks like the biggest difference is how far outward the 17z protrudes in the center, courtesy of the pad retention pin. Hence why the 2-piece style 5 looks like such a tight fit as it snakes down in diameter where the face bolts to the barrel. Something forged , like a Te37 would do far better in that regard as the barrel actually gets wider the further away from the spokes you get.
Were you planning to run the Style 5s with adapters or redrilled? I’ve been pondering the idea of a BBK since I gotta give some love to the brakes figured why not upgrade. I will be running the style 5s with 27mm adapters front and 30 in the back

The pin doesn't really protrude much past the outer diameter of the caliper. So it is less of a factor than you would expect.

With all the BBK that use the R rotors, the biggest issue is going to be spoke clearance if you have a decent 17" wheel
The man, the myth, the legend!
Don't suppose you have a short list of wheels that work/ don't by any chance? Looks like FWD / flat face wheels are generally ok. It appears that Enkei RPF1's will also work (based on the product page) although not sure what size/offset.

I'm skeptical on the style 5's but not sure if anyone has tried to fit them... I should have a few wheels to test by the time I get the rest the conversion together.

Adapters. Style 5's don't have enough offset to work redrilled without looking like a sunken battleship

I'm currently running the 16" style 5's which are still 8" wide +20 offset. After adapters they are ET 0 up front and ET -5 in the rear and that's with no camber up front and plenty of room in the rear (...to the outer edge of the fender.... the stupid tear drop shape of the rear arch does result in some rubbing under heavy load which will be corrected with shortened trailing arms at some point)

*edit with correct adapter thickness/ offset*

Excited to see how your car works out, I've also been looking at the 17" Style 5's as a wheel option for my car and I have the TB group buy cadillac brembos to throw on, hopefully they fit! Would be a great look

No one has a real list like that. Get something like this to determine size and offset, also using willtheyfit.com. Most new wheels will have dimensional drawings available. Measure, compare, buy wheels. We all have to take a bit of risk, no one is serving all the info out on a platter unfortunately.

Maybe, maybe not; but you don't know if you don't ask... 🤷🏿‍♂️

No one is talking about "serving all the info out on a platter" 😆 however it seemed like the whole point of this thread was to discuss what wheel/specs would work with the BNE 17z bbk, yet, prior to your contribution no one had actually offered any concrete information on specs and only one (stock) wheel was mentioned with enough detail to be useful.

As far as taking a "bit of risk", you're preaching to the choir, I've got a set of style 5's and a set of R brakes for sale right now 😆 to fund this little research project.

Perhaps it would be better to start a new thread that way I can update the first post as we come up with a list of wheels/specs that are confirmed work / not work, for maximum utility?

Hey why not? Lotta people ask "what wheels fit x application" but this question is a lot more legit than most.

As far as specific to the 17z calipers, I might be wrong but I don't think there is a huge amount of these conversions out there yet. I think the R conversion should be included since there is very little clearance difference and there are a lot more. Would be your thread though, so up to you.
I think mine were Enkie VR5, if I remember correctly.

That is a fair point, the R conversion is a lot more common, but information on what wheels/specs fit R brakes is also a lot easier to come by, hence the focus on 17z. That said.... it's safe to assume that any wheel that fit's the 17z bbk will also fit R brakes ...however the inverse is not necessarily true. No harm in building a bigger tent I suppose, we can simply compile wheels/specs that are confirmed to work with the most popular BBK options:

Wheel Model - Diamiter x Width - Offset - Pic
*tire size for extra credit*

Here is what clearance looks like with a style 5 and a 32mm spacer. The spacer is a generic 5x108 to 5x120 and is just a hair under 32mm proper ~31.8x-31.9x. The upper and lower corners look to be the closest points. The shim pack that is there measured just just 4mm compressed. 3.9x.

Happy to take more measurements if there is something more specific needed.

Productive conversations that actually involve numbers have been moved here I hope you'll come join us as this is EXACTLY the type of information that is needed!
