Bought a turbo brick that was out behind a barn.

If the plate is down no fuel will flow from the injectors. The plate is lifted by the air intake suction from the engine and that will allow fuel to flow. Buy a used copy of the Bentley 240 service manual. It will help you a lot with fixing the car.

Use a Timesert to repair that plug especially since it's already had two helicoils in there. Looking forward to how it's going with the car.
I went ahead and purchased another head a while back. Yoshifab had one and helped out with shipping, big thanks. I will go ahead and do that with the old head so it can be of use again.

The turbo heads use sodium exhaust valves. So you want to save the parts if you can. Be careful if you do dispose of the old valves the sodium can be volatile if it's exposed to air. 🔥

Here's how it goes at the moment. Rewind a month+...

The sound of the motor firing gave me life, and then it died/I turned it off, but I did not die. First problem was a lack of oil pressure....there was no oil after letting it warm up/ slowly the needle moved left....the turbo return oil line was out of the block and pumped it onto the gravel...maybe the tube detached when we drug it out of the bushes(?), or maybe the PCV box hose routing was wrong and it blew out...I don't know...but so it goes.

Got the rectangular sectioned O ring and connected the return line back and oil pressure is good, but electric fan is not working and the thermostat leaks. New gasket and an educated wiring guess. Good to go. Now the toggle switch allows me to turn off the fans. Why would I ever want to turn off the electric fans?

Waiting on a fuel pressure gauge for the K jet at the moment, and hoping to figure out why the car is leaning out/ not revin over 3k rpm soon.

Well....it's been a hot minute.

As of the last post: the turbo oil return line has detached another time or two. The motor mounts sheared. The electric fan toggle is nice when I do not...mmm...donuts. want to hear it. The wiring has been a constant issue(s). I feel like it's over 3/4 in good shape but still finding faults (deteriorating [crumbly sheathed] exposed wires coming through the transom shift boot opening for instance. no overdrive, no interstate, douh). Lovin' it. Driving it like I hate it.
