I had a (probably bad) idea that it would be cool to have completely stock girling calipers but billet aluminum. So they take the stock pistons, rotors, seals, pads/hardware but avoids the annoying port placement(needing hardlines) so you can use a banjo style, like what BNE sells, so the calipers can actually be removeable. Then you can run smaller wheels etc.

You can view the models here: https://a360.co/4cTKDnp - they're not 1:1 but close enough, but probably need tweaks here and there. I think missing a couple bleeder valves ports still.

I printed one of the halves to compare.

What do you think @blkaplan "Small Brake Kit"?

Also thought about just modifying stock cast iron to accept a banjo on the back, but not sure there is enough meat and space for the banjo bolt.

Would aluminum be stiff enough with the same contact area/design between the halves as the cast iron ones?

From a performance perspective, its not worth the effort unless you are in some esoteric racing class that requires the use of the stock rotors but you can somehow change the calipers or you have a huge hardon for running virgos (they barely clear the stock calipers)

Id rather just get custom brake lines made that have the right end fitting so you dont need a banjo bolt.

The stock rotor size is nothing great or worth trying to save, if you want to do it because it makes you happy then go for it.

More just for fun and solving the odd brake line placement. Thought about just modifying the cast iron calipers to accept a banjo, but there not may be enough material to create the thread. I have no idea how a custom brake line would even thread on there. Its in such a terrible place and then on top of that they're doubled up.

You need to be running 15" BBS flatbase wheels....these have no drop, maximum brake diameter clearance under a 15" wheel. (you have to assemble the wheel around the tire). Then, fit those to the largest rotor you can get under a 15" wheel. And also make the calipers wider to fit over a thicker rotor.

I can sell you all of my 15" rim halves, you can make your own centers (I'm not using 15" anymore):oogle:
