Are you worried about the single bolt shearing as a failure point?
On the rubber isolator mount? That is how all the stock Volvo engine/trans mounts are, but the shearing strength limiting factor is in the rubber, not the bolt. This is the stock location for the Volvo trans mount.

Mount paint turned out nice.

Mounts came in.

We will see how long they last, its deforming a little more than I had hoped. Might just run the solid one if this dies quickly.

I must have forgot the lower rad supports when I found the turbo stuff in the junkyard. CAD'd up the upper version, but added the little pegs in the bottom.

jcq0Sxs.jpeg

Printed them in PLACF, might stick some rubber in the bottom. Might print in TPU, not sure.

Trying to figure out the oil cooler. I cut a notch in the right headlight support. Bent it over and added a bit of metal.

Tired of fabricating stuff.

Got the driveshaft in. I have one of those rare 2.5" rear half shaft. I think its even lighten than the 2".

Oil cooler installed. Not super happy with the mounts, but it will do for now.

Spun up some lines.

need to make some mounting brackets, but they will tidy up.

This is all of the oil lines, turbo and cooler here. No interference as far as I can tell.

3D printing a little pass through for the spot I cut out near the headlight. Printing tonight will report back.

Why would someone even abandon this car in the first place :???: also is that the original (from the barn) paint still because it looks pretty cool
There was a time when these cars were worthless and traded around on handshake deals. There was also a time when failing an e-test would get a car crushed here.

20 years ago these now-classic Volvos were just shitty, slow European cars.

The owner had a collection of cars, and they were working on restoring them. But you know how things go, 10-15 years later... Hell it took me two years to start doing anything to it myself. He liked this one enough to stick it in a barn at least lol - My guess was maybe it was a customer or friend who was getting some body work done, and it just never happened. There are some repairs here and there, and I don't think the whole thing is original paint, but most of it probably is. There are large spots of primer and bondo too, and a messed up rocker. I don't want to change any of that 😂

Yeah they never switched the ownership themselves, so Ill be interested to see how many owners its had.

Also the plate number, 966-NSN, dates the registration to the 90s so its at least 3 owners but one never drove it.

Turbo is on.

This wasn't how I pictured the lines going, but it works!

Defiled an OG intercooler. Couldn't think of a better place to put the air temp sensor.

Fits nicely. Maybe ill pressure test the intercooler, maybe I won't.

Made some quick spacers for the intercooler and rad holders.

I've done this with whole harnesses, then put them in my vacuum chamber with a battery blanket wrapped around it to vacuum desiccate them. When I did the harness for my 760, when it was in the vacuum chamber a whole bunch of oil came out of the starter cable. Looked like sap coming out of the end of a burning log.
