Clueless about turbos

I think that is just engine bay shmutz. The bosses on the compressor housing are in the wrong spot for a 16T. 13C has the one pictured about 180 degree from the outlet, 16t theyre both near the outlet.
Makes you wonder how that works with the 16T angled housing. Did they frankenstein a 16t turbine onto a 13C compressor? Im pretty sure the 13c's had smaller turbine wheels.

I'm itching to know if this is a 16t or not, bar taking it off to look, there must be other clues??

I'm not sure about anything 🤣

Study up!

Already looked at that, still hasn't helped me 100% identify what I've got😔

I think the comments about the WG bracket are helpful; a 16t wouldn't have the threaded mounting holes in that location, so maybe it is a 13c compressor. The turbine housing is throwing everything off for me, but maybe it is just some frankenstein creation by the previous owner.

Sorry, here again wondering about my turbo. Due to my setup, would me buying a new Chinese TD04HL-16T just bolt straight on once it's been reclocked? Anything else I'd need to do??

This is the one I'm looking at

I would start with the wideband and go from there to be honest. Not much point in upgrading the turbo if you can't measure out whether it's safe to use the increased boost.

All I can say is I hope the guy didn't put a 13C turbine into the wrong turbine housing. Green tag means 16T to me.

OH, I am gonna guess you have a 13G turbo on there. I think those had green tags too. If a S70/C70 was a T5 model it had the 16T, if it were the GLT (low pressure turbo) it would have the 13G.

I still can't see pics of how the wastegate actuator is mounted to the compressor housing, that would reveal info.

You also can take the intake hose off for better pics. Then peek at the compressor too, if it has straight compressor blades on the leading edge it is a "T". If it has curved blades, it is a "G"

Ok managed to bag this TD04HL-16T from a Volvo S60, apparently good working order....only £50! So now looking into a rebuild kit for it.....may as well get it ship shape for when I'm ready to install......

^^^The only problem with the ones from a S60 are the coolant ports are both on the same side of the turbo. That means your will need to make some modifications for your coolant lines, or get a turbo with coolant ports on both sides.
