Converting Early Cruise Control Switches To The Later Style Connector 240

I am attempting to swap the connector on either a 1989 or 1982 240 cruise control to match a 1990+ cruise control stalk. Thought it would be straightforward but the switches seem to be different. I got the signals right from the 1990 version but the 1989 version does not seem to show the same signals on an ohm meter... Kinda baffled. Has anyone ever done this? I took matching connectors off a donor car, common, and I am ready to solder it on. Both switches have power input on one wire and 3 signal wires going out. 0 ohms for each wire on the 1990 when the button is pressed simple. The 1989 switch gives me tons of resistance until the button is pressed, then a different resistance when it is pressed. And totally acts different when the switch is in the on position... I can try a 1982 switch with the round connector instead of the flat blade. But I could use some insight if anyone can help.

Would anyone else think its gotta be the same internal switch? It could be different but that totally surprises me
Have you looked through the green book on the cruise control system (TP31607 for 1990-93, 3rd gen)? In there are the diagnostics steps to test the system. I believe these are just on or off binary switches to the brain box. You may need to move some of the 4 wires as those may be different between the earlier and later systems. I have used a Volvo 240 stalk to test out the CC system in my 1993 Eurovan Weekender, which is pretty much the same as the 3rd gen Volvo set up. It uses the same vacuum switches on the pedals, and the ECU has an additional male connector on it. Did need to install jumpers in the Volvo stalk to align it with wiring for the VW system.

This is a video of testing the vacuum pump. FYI: there are a couple jumper wires in the VW's ECU connector (red and green wires in the white block in the first few seconds) to activate the vaccum pump with the stalk controls.

Thats what I am finding out. So the 90+ switches are completely l different?

@Khrrck I am trying to get values off the early switch but the ohm meter keeps jumping around...
Yes. I tried rewiring the early stalk, of which I have several, to the 93 245 I now own, and the switch does not operate the cruise. There are obviously internal discrepancies between the generations of cruise used.
