Cosbysweater's Skunkworks 1987 Chevrolet C10

So going back to the post about the blue devil. This thing leaked sooooo bad. The engine sat for so long so I figured all the seals had dried up on it. I pulled the transmission and inspected.

It was for sure leaking out the oil drain, it was slathered in rtv when I got it so I repaired that first.

Then I removed the flywheel and funny I didn't notice it before but it looked like someone installed the rear main with a hammer and chisel. removed the rear cover and oil pan. I was treated to this.....

Hard to tell by the pictures but there are in fact 3 turbo drain seals in the pickup tube along with a bunch of rtv. This thing has always had amazingly good oil pressure so this is a huge surprise.

Then the issue with the throttle linkage this thing had a cruise control spool on it which is not ideal on top of that all the monkey motion from those plastic ball sockets and likely worn out throttle bushings made it very interesting to drive. we cut some flanges on the bandsaw and got a vibrant 2.5 cast elbow and eliminated all the garbage.

Also not pictured but i put a T cam back in the truck. the Kcam along with the weight of the truck and some other factors made it absolute dog. It also put the engine into a weird surge zone at cruise rpm. I used chat gpt to figure out where to advance or retard the cam so i could get rid of the described surge. It landed right around -1 degree. Which was a band aid till the T cam went back in. This thing due to the low compression and weight is constantly at 5psi of boost. Basically the turbo was choochin more than the engine was eatin.

Decided its time to squeeze this thing a bit harder and get the drivability better. Got Austens B23 from his deceased 144, RIP. Im going to run it on e85 and crank up the power till i need to make improvements. I also picked up a 405 cylinder head from Austen that will end up on the b23 at some point as well.
