Cosbysweater's Turbo LS 244

It's not only your local engine machine shop, they're not much better over here. I was gonna do a rod/piston 6.0L and costs were gonna be $3000-3600 depending on line hone or not. That was about 6mo ago and me supplying parts. Decided another LS+T grenade was more in the budget. :ROFLMAO:

yea its crazy, i mean a junk yard engine or buying a running truck is still the best way to do it. its just alot of work to replace blown up engines because you forgot to turn the water meth on or something dumb like that. lol
 
I was doing so many things at once i forget to take more pictures. Got the engine block assembled, installed all new bearings, opened up the rings to .030 and threw in a Low Buck Truck cam. Cleaned up the 317 heads and actually put new seals and new head gaskets for once. Threw in some arp head bolts as well. Im sure its probably going to blow up now.

i pinned the crank because i made a timing pointer. from my experience ive always had to put a bit of timing offset in thee things. they are usually off about 5-6 degrees in the positive direction.

got some cheap adapters because i lost the pair i used as a jig and redrilled my hubs to 5x114.3 to match the 8.8. used chevy studs

also converted the car to skinny bumpers and quad squares so all of my 240s match.

looking pretty decent under the hood need to clean up alot of little things however engine is comming out friday, its pretty hurt right now. will update probably after the engine swap
 
Finished the swap on the car, it runs really really good. i have spent alot of time cleaning up the engine bay and simplifying it. Ive gotten alot of work done but still no where near where i want it. Here is where i started with the car.

i need to still clean up the driver side of the engine bay a bit, however its looking so much better.

got some long travel coil overs for the rear to get the back end up higher and balance the suspension.
 
Repoed the car, what happened??

Bummer about the sideswipe, glad everyone is okay at least. You mentioned a donor car, is that still the plan or just run this and hack up the rear for some big drag meats? Are you thinking of towing a small trailer for race tires and other bits for D&D events? Do you follow Finnegan on YT? He's got some great coverage of D&D events that's a fun watch. I'm not much of a drag race person but it looks pretty fun!!
 
i got the car back in a trade. sold it to a good friend and he didnt do anything with it. I got a good door and hacked a quarter panel off a good 240 at the yard. I am going to do some drag and drive events with it. hoping to do redwood rally next year with my dad and possibly RMRW. I was building the gremlin to do those events but its just to dangerous of a car and i dont want to die.

on another note, i have finally made progress on fixing the terrible rear suspension.

on the left is what i pulled off, a 13.5 inch shock with a 10x250 lb spring. on the right is a 18 inch shock with a 14x100 lb spring. its compressed to about 1 inch with weight on it but its double adjustable and man you can feel a massive difference. the rear suspension actually works now!

the stance is just about perfect. going to conjur up some front suspension for it and i cant wait to get it to the track

Looks like you're using stock 240 ears on the 8.8?

what you got man?! im using stock mounts, stock trailing arms that i hacked off. this was before there were mounts being produced so i had to hack up a 1031 lol. i have another 8.8 that i want to put volvo tubes in
 
Got the front runners on there, redrilled the hubs and the front runners hit the caliper. Pulled the dash out and pull the climate control box out to mount all of the aftermarket crap so its easy to get to and cleans everything up and makes it easier to work on

MAN there was a ton of cut wires and random splices i had no idea about. Also I did build this car during my heavy drinking days and it really shows. I have stripped the harness and climate control out so i can mount everything in that void to make it easier to service.

looks scary but its not really. I started pulling wire and random relays It alot easier to diagnose in the future.

this is the beginning of the pile.. i took a little segway and decided i wanted to dump the volvo brakes. I got brakes from a 2001 mustang which shares the same master cylinder size. Its alot easier to find brakes off a 2001 mustang then it is a 80s volvo.

here is all the unused wiring i pulled from the vehicle. the cluster and gauges were basically hardwired in so that was removed and put a connector in place

just about ready to put back together, needs some clean up and routing. this has taken longer then swapping out the engine, haha.

Got the car all back together and got the brakes installed. they feel good and are a pretty decent weight savings over the stock calipers. car is just about done and soon it will get the quarter panel repaired and get matching rear wheels on there. car is brutally fast, running it on wastegate right now and its pretty evident i need another wastegate.

Going to either move the rear axle back a hair or trim the 1/4. I like where the wheel sits right now so i will have to think about it. Got a set of matching rear wheels in the correct offset finally.

very very close. not going to work. I can still drive it however at lower pressure and full load it will destroy that 1/4.
