Diode mod?

What is the diode mod? I've seen it mentioned in a few posts, but haven't found any write ups. I noticed some audi and vw also mention a diode mod. Anyone have any experience with it? What’s the point? Thanks!

It is incredibly outdated and bad advice with the intent to clip the voltage coming from the MAF to get around LH2.4 fuel cut.

What ends up happening is you lean out the motor as the RPMs climb instead of cutting fuel. Please do not do it.
Sounded janky to me

On a side note, I might just be old or overly practical, but it bothers me when some users are looking for ways to get around the factory rev limiter when in 98% of cases you're already well on the downside of the power curve at that point and should have shifted 200 rpm ago.

Especially when peak power is at like 5k

It is only practical to go to 6800 or so on these engines IMHO.

That, is only acceptable when the bottom end has been balanced well (HB, Crank, Flywheel, PP, disk) along with the rods and pistons.

The springs in the head have to be properly checked and preferably replaced with slightly stiffer.

Then, and only then does it make sense and I'm not entirely sure there's actually power worth worrying about in that range.

With the stock cams there isn't much happening above 5k rpms. I had my machine shop shim the large style valve springs and he recommended a 6800 rpm redline. With a better cam than stock it revs to 7k if you aren't careful. These engines can handle high rpm power better than you think.

I read this, and thought it was the diode mod for the motronic ECU to turn off the check engine light for the SAS.
Carry on.
