Engine rebuild B204 "The rabbit hole"

Why is the bolt head touching the cam gear in this picture?

It also "looks" like the pulley got really close to the cam gear. Did they make contact? Was the cam gear the "saw"?

EDIT- You also wanna make sure you have the upgraded oil pump bolt and washer. It looks like you have the upgraded pulley, but no washer. I am gonna upgrade to a 10.9 grade bolt. I am gonna see what the dealer gives me with PN 948472 for the bolt. 960148 is the washer (according to search). You may also want to consider solid dowel pins for the cam gears, if you don't already have them.

It looks like the tensioner may be available as a whole piece. I would try to get a high quality tensioner and bolt on there. You are only as strong as the weakest link in the timing belt system.

It's the angle of the picture that makes it look like this

I can't find the tensioner available as a whole piece. Do you have a link or firm who has them?

The belt was "saw" by the tensoner arm

So basically the axis of that pulley was not parallel with the rest causing the belt to ride into the arm of the tensioner? That sucks to see. I had a disappointing rebuild a few years back where an undetected crack in a valve failed 20K miles after finishing the rebuild. This caused damage to the head and piston top and bent the rod. I replaced with a used motor.
