Found the leak. Turns out the rollover valve was clogged preventing smoke from getting into the system.

Looks like this may be a tank out job.

Yank the tank or glob on JB weld.

JB weld and wrap it with something would be my choice. I think to drop the tank you have to drop the whole rear end n such.

Apparently jb weld with soften with fuel exposure.

JB makes a fuel tank epoxy. Belzona 1212 is expensive, but it'd work perfectly for this.

I'll draw up a short list of options and figure out which to try first.

It's surprisingly hard to find an adhesive which says it can be immersed in gasoline on the label. You'd think they'd be shouting it from the rooftops.

Is the tank plastic or metal? May be you can just glue a patch on the outside using rubber cement. Similar to the tire patch.

Plastic, gotta find something that doesn't turn to mush in the presence of gasoline.

Epoxies do generally sound like a good bet. After you pick one you could stick a sample on a test surface, leave it in a jar of gasoline for a couple days and see how it fares.
