Seems overkill.

When I rebuild, I run it til warm, then drain and replace oil and filter, to get rid of any particles and assembly lube.

Then just normal oil and filter changes ever two thousand miles.

What oil would you use on a rebuilt engine. Going to put it in this weekend and start the brake in with standard oil 10w-30. Running 20 min. then cool down 3 times-change oil (10w-30) 3 more times running 20 min. then cool down and change oil to ????? yet. Any thoughts on what you used after a brake in?

Rotella T 15w-40

Prier to rebuild I used Delo 15w-40 but am leaning to Rotella T,thanks for your input.

All my cars run on bacon grease. Actually didn't Top Gear do that one? Nope, Mobil 1 in the brick.

Great, thank you all very much for suggestions. I have some Mobil 1 15w-40. Going to mix 3 quarts of that with one quart of Castrol GTX 10w-30 to fatten up seals; and, top off when necessary with Lucas synthetic oil treatment. no zinc in this mix, though.
Or, for the natural oil to fatten old seals, maybe a quart of Rotella or other natural diesel oil containing the zinc. The directions seem to all indicate they may be blended - diesel can also be blended w/these?

i usually use whatever 40 weight diesel oil is on sale, and buy a bunch of it at a time. rotella, delo, premium blue.
i put that in my volvos, my tractor, and my truck, none of which are diesel.
