Finally some decent hydraulic motor mounts for 7/9 series cars.

I’ve been fighting a loud vibration noise on my 1990 Volvo 740 for close to a year now and finally found some decent mounts that dampen pretty much all of the vibration. I’ve tried all of the remaining brands of hydraulic motor mounts as well as solid motor mounts and they’ve all been really crappy. Autozone just got some decent ones on their website and they’re only $22 each. I installed them last weekend and they’re fantastic. Who knows how long they’ll last but at $22 a piece I’d be ok with replacing them once a year. The company that supplies them also overnight ships them for free so that’s super nice too. They’re made by Sigma and the part number is SG-8622HY.

Motor mounts on Autozone

I installed a set on a family members 940, they felt nice on the test drive and the "customer" is very happy with them. Unfortunately though they are already out of stock from autozone as far as I can see.

It would be cool if IPD, FCP, VP auto or Swedish auto parts carried them instead of the MTC or pro parts Sweden garbage that they’re currently stocking. I’m thinking of emailing them to see if they’d be willing to stock them instead of relying exclusively on autozone.

Did you guys just cause a run on motor mounts
Don’t look at me. I only bought a dozen. lol

I did post about them on 2 Facebook Volvo RWD groups and Reddit’s RWD Volvo community. I actually just got done emailing fcp, Ipd and and VP to see if they’ll carry them. The other mounts that are available for these cars are embarrassingly bad and pretty much ruin the experience of driving these cars. It would be nice to keep these in production since there aren’t any other choices that are worth a damn anymore.

Just got an email from FCP and they’re a no-go. Still waiting on Ipd and VP to see if they say anything.
I’m 15 minutes down the road from them and know a guy there who happens to be a Volvo guy. I’ll try and talk with him next time I’m there
I should’ve hit Auto Zone quicker 😂

And they’re sold out again. I got the two that I ordered and noticed that one of them was clearly a solid mount as it didn’t make the sloshing sound that the other ones make. The solid one is easily identified by a pointed/tapered top stud whereas the hydraulic one has a flat stud. Sigma does make a solid and hydraulic mount for the 7/9 series but I’d imagine the solid one is no better than the pro parts Sweden ones.

I ordered a set as soon as I saw your post and about a half hour after I placed the order I received an email from Autozone letting me know that my delivery was delayed.. Soo we'll see if my package ever shows up.

Coincidentally I ordered 2 yesterday and I was given a 10 day delivery time why is fine. Hopefully it happens

Be curious to see how long they last?

I just recombined used OE, but I also haven’t driven a 7/9 for ~15+ years?

I’d probably just backdate it to the ‘solid’ rubber mounts that can last 15-20+ years / sort of indefinitely if oil is kept off them and they’re reinforced with some screws thru the plates , but @ that price I guess replace every 2-4 years if you can tolerate the inconvenience?

Old style rubber mounts louder overall, but no annoying resonance @ prolonged highway cruising speeds and much nicer clutch take-up (if manual?).

I actually had the solid early style and didn’t care for it much due to vibration. So far the sigmas have held up but I only installed them at the end of Aprill. Experimenting with mounts I’ve gotten pretty good at replacing them quickly so if they last a couple of years I’m happy.

They typically overnight them via fedex with the free option
I ordered them from my local store maybe that’s why? They didn’t mention shipping options. I’m still months away from starting the resurrection of my 745 so I’m ok waiting
