Front suspension kits

I’ve been trying to find front strut, spring, and shock kits for my 1989 Volvo 240 wagon and I’m having a hell of a time finding anything. I keep getting my hopes up when I go to the site for it to say it doesn’t fit my car. I’m hoping to find a complete kit that has the whole thing assembled where I can put it in as one piece but I know that might be wishful thinking. Does anyone have any suggestions about where to find front suspension parts? I’m not looking to have a performance upgrade, just to replace the aged suspension. Thanks!

There isn't anything pre assembled, the spindle is the same part as the strut tube and lower spring perch so it's not cost affective to reproduce and sell the whole thing. The front strut is a "cartridge" style. Stock shocks I think Sachs might still be the go to, even though they are not as nice as they have been according to others, many people like KYB's for a stock car. KYB is the only front upper shock mount you should be buying. I also only advise you replace bushings in pairs as they wear, not all of the bushings in the suspension wear out at the same pace and new stuff isn't as reliable.

FCP Euro has a "lifetime" warranty, Rock Auto also has a lot of options on the consumables on the car like suspension. IPD has a bit of a mark up.

Sachs are complete junk. Kyb is for the cheap option. Bilstein or konis if you have the $$$.

If you can still find them Gabriel front strut inserts are a nice upgrade to a stock car. FCP Euro sells parts kits but no one sells assembled suspension kits. You get to do that when you buy a parts car. Prep everything and swap it over to your car. Just like on Dean of Machines. 8-)

Dang it, that’s what I thought. I’ve never pulled a spring off a car before and I’m not going to lie, it kinda freaks me out. I’ll get/rent a spring tensioner so I can do it safely. Thanks for the suggestions!

Just make sure the compressor has good safety hooks so it stays on the spring. On a 240 you will want to grab five coils. To do that you will have to pry one of the coils so it can fit into the compressor hooks. The best compressor is the clamshell type but the usual long threaded two bolt type can work ok. Respect the spring and you'll be fine.
