As i was putting in my cam the other day i screw up my timing because i could not get the bolt off the gear with out it turning the cam. Today i took the belts off, the top timing cover off, but i can't get the bottom crank pully off with out it turning, is there a solution for this?

After i get that off i need to line up all the gears straight up after cam is put in and it should start with them lined up right?

If there is anything else i should know to make it easier it will be appriciated, at this moment i could use all the help i can get so please reply if you have something on to say on this.

Thanks alot Brett

i remember the other thread... first off, what do you mean you couldnt get the gear off the cam... what is it set at now? 0?? the cam will run and run fine from -4 to +4 if not more...

you dont need to take anything off except the belt ... then line up the crank and pulleys to 0, then set you cam gear to 0 then line up the belt and put it back on, tighten the tensioner... you're done.

do you have a bentley or haynes around?

I have a haynes man. Is what i mean by i couldn't get the gear off is when i would turn the gear to loosen the bolt it would turn the cam and gear. so can i put something there to stop it from rotating while i try and loosen the bolt?

But considering my timing is off now all i have to do is aline all the gears and pullies up at the 0 degree mark and it should start right?

Brett

what i meant was, why were you needing to take cam/any gears/pulleys off in the first place :e-shrug:

all you need to do is loosen the belt on the cam gear, align the bottom to 0 degrees, then line up your white stripes on the belt to the cam gear.
