Here is the answer to what is OHC interference

The teeth came off the belt in my B230 with an A cam in my 245, no problem, just put on a new belt. It was the blue Gates racing belt that failed. I do have a valve cover oil leak but I thought that belt was supposed to be indestructible.

Nothing is indestructible, you just have to try harder to destroy it.

IE racing a dirt track with no timing cover may cause a rock to somehow put a bend in the timing guide on the crank, causing the timing belt to stretch and snap

The blue belts use aramid/kevlar for the reinforcing fabric, and it’s incredibly hard to get things to bond to it. I’m not surprised it shredded some teeth tbh. They might use a different/harder rubber as well.

Conti and Gates now both offer aramid reinforced timing belts that seem to last a long time, and these are just generic OE style replacements. They’re probably the same strength as the older blue belts, but cheaper and easier to get. My guess is longer lasting as well.

Forgot to re-tension the timing belt after install, slipped off the aux shaft, survived with a B cam.

Back in 1999, had two t-belts get chewed up by a cracked crankshaft gear on a stock 1981 B23E (405 head casting, K cam). No valve damage, surprisingly. First time was with the engine off-idle when the teeth stripped off. Second time was while waiting at a light. Crankshaft gear was cracked due to a torque wrench that failed. 122 ft. lbs became 22 ft. lbs instead. Had the gear replaced with a good used part by a shop. Was fine the rest of the time I owned the car, and engine eventually got swapped into a 1979 242DL, where it lasted a few more years before that car was sold off.

I think my biggest issue was it broke as I was revving the hell out of it, trying to keep myself moving in the sand, broke likely around 4k
