Hurricane edition 1981 262c

Well, frustrating update - I’m still stuck in limbo working through the turbo swap. I’m currently trying to get some very stuck parts out - the turbo/exhaust manifold support bracket bolt, and the O2 sensor.

Also found some surface rust when I pulled (most of) the carpet out of the interior. Making progress there but can’t get the front carpet out because…

currently dealing with a really annoying stuck bolt in the cabin, it just spins without threading out. The nut under the car in the transmission tunnel is fine, it’s welded in place and not spinning. Driver’s side gave me no trouble. Maybe I need to apply pressure while trying to thread it out if there’s some part that is stripped or something? Very weird. Open to suggestions. Update: yep that did it

In better news, I found a local donor for a clean black dash! It’s a 91 so will need to pull all the support brackets etc and ignition surround. Two small cracks at the driver’s side vent, one small crack at the passenger side to the “hump”. Anything in particular I need to do to stop them from spreading?

I’ll also use this as an opportunity to reinstall a/c that was lost during the 6->4 cyl conversion, and pull some parts for a future LH2.2 conversion.

This car is stupid clean for how it was “stored” outdoors in some guy’s backyard pressed up against a wood fence - if I had room / permission for another old Volvo I’d probably be keeping it, but I already have a local calling dibs on the shell to replace his rusting out MN 240.

That's a minty dash. Let me know if you don't want all those switches :badboy:

Got the garage cleaned up from the hoard that came in with the dash donor, and got the black trunk lid carpet installed. Just need to get the gas feeder tube cover back in place, the spare cover (both from donor car), and the floor. Trunk almost done, yay!

A 262c friend in Europe clued me in on something his friend did.. turned a rear center arm rest into a front! Since I have a spare, 100% will be doing this.

Black carpet is in for test fit! Not pushed down in the back because it desperately needs to come back out to be shampooed on account of omg so many mice

Trunk is done! Thank you @2manyturbos for the advice on getting the carpet cleaned.

The donor car had the trunk liner and an extra piece of carpet on the lower deck. I replaced the section between the tails with that, so trunk is fully carpeted except where the spare sits.

Sound deadening in place where needed.

I’m trying to figure out if I can / want to steal the pass-through from the ‘91 donor.. I don’t think it would work with the Bertone rear seat back - the armrest folds down, so no problem there, but there’s a leather flap behind that I don’t think would be moved out of the way.

Sigh. Worst of the interior floor pan rust. Looks like moisture got trapped between the carpet / foam carpet pad / factory deadener and it’s happening from the inside -> out instead of the other way around.
