Good News and Bad News.....

We'll start with the Bad news first...

BBS Style 5's aka RC090 - DO NOT FIT.
Above is fitted with a 20mm adapter, making them effectively 17x8 +0 this is about as far as you can go and still keep the wheel under the fender (without significant camber)

Not that that even matters....

Just for fun I tried with a 25mm adapter (17x8 et -5) to at least give the spokes a chance to clear

Ok, spokes barely clear..... but wait, there's more!

I wonder how the 17Z calipers compare to the Cadillac ATS brembos dimension-wise. 6 pot vs 4 pot might save me a little space. Was planning on running RC090's with 25mm spacers and these ATS Brembos

ATS Brembos are more similar to V70R/S60R Brembos, than they are to 17z's (hence why they are the focus of this thread. Basically any wheel that fits 17z will fit any BBK you slap on a 240 ....within reason). So I think you will be fine with RC090's+ ATS brakes.

I too had dreams of running RC090's (actually style 19's which are the same barrels but different faces) but I'm glad I went with my gut and sold them, or I'd be wheel shopping with my car on jack stands .... :ROFLMAO:.

*Upon closer inspection RC090's are actually a pretty awful design from a fitment standpoint, a very inefficient use of space, even compared to other 17" multi-piece wheels.

I hope so!

If not I’ll be in the same boat, buddy. Shopping for wheels with the car on stands!

I’ve had my eyes set on RC090’s since my last Volvo, finally have a wagon worthy of them

lol. Theres a lot more to brakes then just diameter…
Yes it’s smaller than R brakes, but it’s more appropriately sized for the system. R brakes do work, but they really throw the brake balance off in the car and when driven hard on track you’re going to find that out really quickly. They also don’t fit Virgo’s, but they will clear a Motorsports designed 15” wheel with the smaller rotor option. Edit: They will fit virgos with a ~15mm spacer.

Sure, they’re not as big as a set of R brakes, but they’re exactly what’s needed for road racing and rally. So if you think you need more brakes than that, go ahead and get R brakes.
Are you saying that the wilwood brakes will fit a virgo wheel with at leat 15mm of spacer or are you talking about the R brakes. I have been eyeing both but I'm not quite ready for new wheels yet, i'm currently on virgos with 25mm spacer, If you know what would fit under that setup please let me know!

They might fit a Virgo with a 25mm spacer, I can check.
The Virgo is the hardest OE 15” to fit around bigger brakes due to where the drop center is on the barrel… right where the caliper is. Stupid reverse mount wheels.

That sucks :/ My brother has a set of bmw m parallel wheels I can put on. I don’t really know if using a bolt pattern adapter would take away any clearance Id have left without rolling my fenders a lot and taking out the wheel liners lol

Volans (17x7) don't fit over the 17z front calipers but they'd probably clear R calipers and they fit over the rear 17z calipers. The spokes clear but the barrel hits the caliper so different spacers wouldn't help

Coming back to this thread, with the 17Z and style 5 combo, already planning on running 25mm adapters, what all on the caliper needs to be clearanced?
They don't fit.

The spokes are uncomfortably close, even with adapters and the barrel is simply too small to clear the body of the caliper.

I have since sold the Style 5's, which is exactly what you should do if you're serious about running the 17z's. Alternatively R brakes would work fine with the style 5's and you could sell the 17z's.

*After doing some research I learned that in terms of Diameter vs Barrel clearance Style 5's are among the worst wheels out there.
